Early Start. By agreement between the Employer and the Union, an employee may begin work at an earlier hour to accommodate special circumstances. This early start time will remain in effect only as long as the circumstances that warranted the change exists. An early start will not change the length of the shift. No extra compensation will be paid for an earlier starting time and the employee must get approval from the Union. Also ten (10) hour shifts will be considered to accommodate special circumstances at the straight time rate on work performed Monday through Friday.

Employees will be entitled to take five minutes immediately before lunch and before finishing time to enable them to wash and put away gear. The washing time breaks will be counted as time worked.
Early Start. By agreement between the employer and an employee and where the agreement involves an employee who has authorised the Union to act on his or her behalf in matters pertaining to his or her employment, the Union, the working day may begin at 5.00 am. or at any other time between that hour and 8.00 a.m. and the working time will then begin to run from the time so fixed, with a consequential adjustment to the meal cessation period. The Union shall only reject such application on behalf of its member/members for legitimate and valid reasons and this provision shall not be used in a manner to prevent early starts occurring without such reasons. If the union does not respond upon receipt of a request for an early start within five working days it will be assumed that consent is given.
