Early Release Time. 1. The District shall provide that students at each school shall be dismissed two (2) hours early on six (6) days during the school year. Any school may opt-out of providing early release time by a 66 2/3 percent vote of bargaining unit members through the waiver methodology described in Article Fifteen, Section G, 2-4.

Early Release Time. At least three (3) early release days for students will be scheduled by the Superintendent of Schools during each school year. Each early release day will create a professional development release day for teachers. Each professional development release day will be three (3) hours in length of which one (1) hour will be considered administrative meeting time as set forth in Paragraph 1 of Article 23. The calendar and programs for professional development release days will be established by the Superintendent of Schools after consultation with the Assistant Superintendent and Principals, and input from the Agawam Education Association. The calendar shall clearly delineate which offerings are required due to Federal and/or State mandates/requirements, and which time slots are available for other professional development. Administration shall create the calendar in August, and shall provide the calendar to the Association in September. Bargaining unit members shall submit their input and/or proposals regarding professional development to the Superintendent of Schools in writing no later than thirty (30) calendar days prior to the available time slot. All professional development activities and/or proposals are subject to the approval of the Superintendent; must be aligned with Federal and State mandates/requirements, and District and School Improvement Plans; and may be on a full system or partial system basis as determined by the Superintendent.
Early Release Time. While the School Committee retains the right to determine the annual school calendar and the total number of student early release days scheduled, early release days will be used for the following purposes: For the 2019-2020 school year:  Two (2) for parent-teacher conferences;  One (1) for use by the Educators for tasks related to Educator Evaluation, such as self-assessment, goal setting, evidence collection and analysis or collaborative conversations as determined by the Educator. All Educator Evaluation Release Time shall be utilized in the Educator’s assigned building;

In order to provide time to prepare report cards, students will be released at 12:30 p.m. at the end of each report card grading period.
