During a Pregnancy Leave or a Parental Leave the University shall continue to make employer contributions to pension and benefit plans where applicable unless the Member has advised the University, in writing, that the Member does not wish to continue to make the employee contributions to such plans.

During a Pregnancy Leave. Parental Leave, and/or Extended Parental Leave, provisions for alternative arrangements for teaching and/or other duties shall be the responsibility of the University and shall not be the responsibility of the Member concerned.

Parental leave may extend up to six (6) months, including time covered by the family medical leave, during the first year after the child's birth or placement. Leave beyond the period covered by family medical leave and pregnancy disability may only be denied by the Employer due to operational necessity. Such denial may be grieved beginning at the top internal step of the grievance procedure in Article 30.
