Common use of Dues and Assessments Clause in Contracts

Dues and Assessments. All members covered by the Union Certificate of Bargaining Authority shall pay to the Union an amount equal to the Union's dues, and any general, bargaining unit-wide assessment(s), such payments to be made by payroll deduction. This deduction shall become effective on the first day of the month coincident with or next following the date of appointment; but the deduction shall be made only if the member is still in the employ of the Employer on the final day of the first pay period in that month. Deductions shall be made in respect of all subsequent months provided a member works any part of the month. These arrangements shall remain in effect for so long as this Union remains the recognized bargaining agent.
