Driving Assignments. The Transportation Supervisor shall have times and hours (AM, PM, Mid-Day and/or kindergarten and Total) prepared in advance of bidding. Bidding shall be done at least five (5) working days before the opening day of school. All school bus drivers will bid in descending order of seniority for total length of driving times that are available for the school year to acquire the routes which shall be assigned by the Board. The lengths of total driving times shall be posted in order from longest to shortest. If a driver is unable to attend in person to select his/her route, said driver may do so as follows: Submit a written notice prior to the meeting to the administrator responsible for transportation, and he/she will be assigned the highest choice available.

Driving Assignments. Benefit Hours: For all full-time bus drivers scheduled hours for the purposes of benefit eligibility shall include the following routes: Home to School, SHARE, and Special Education routes. Regular Routes: For all full-time bus drivers regularly, scheduled hours shall include the following routes: Stand By and Special Education routes. SHARE and Home to School routes vary in length and are added to open slots based on schedule efficiency, location and overtime minimization, when student data is available. All regular routes, (Special Education), standby positions, and program routes will be posted and awarded by seniority. For the purpose of route picks, seniority as defined in section 7-4 will apply. Full time employees will pick first up to forty (40) hours. Modifications to the sign up and rotation process can be made through the labor management committee. For the purposes of route picks, in the event an employee leaves a classification and returns, the employee shall retain their original seniority date within that classification.

Driving Assignments. The assignment of all driving, regular and "extra" runs, shall be consistent with the needs of the District and its pupils. The District administration retains final decision-making authority on this subject, and the right to assign, transfer or reschedule all runs in a manner conducive to the effective and efficient operation of its mission. Once assigned to a regular run, a driver will not be changed during the course of the year except under extenuating circumstances in which case the driver will be consulted before a change takes place. Provided there is no interference with a regular bus driver’s performance of regular bus runs, regular drivers will be given preference over substitute bus drivers in the assignment of special and extra driving runs. All extra runs, with the exception of field trips and sports trips are to be signed up for by June 30 of the school year preceding the runs. When applicable, all field trips and sports runs will be posted on the board the first work day of the week prior to the ran. Regular drivers have 48 hours from the time of posting to sign up for the runs. The extra runs will be rotated based on seniority. If after 48 hours no regular driver signs up, the ran may go to a driver not in the rotation or to a substitute driver. When a regular bus driver is assigned to drive a special or extra bus ran at a time which conflicts with that driver’s performance of the regular bus run, the time spent away from the driver’s regular bus run is compensated at the driver’s regular rate of pay, but that time is deducted from the compensated pay to which the driver is entitled by reason of the driver’s performance of the special or extra bus ran. Interpretation/Clarification: When a regular driver is assigned to drive a special or extra run at a time which conflicts with that driver’s performance of his/her regular bus ran (half day), the driver will be compensated as follows: The driver will receive their regular run pay for the first two (2) hours of the extra ran and receive the hourly rate for any additional hours of the special or extra ran. Each bus driver shall have the responsibility to clean the inside of the bus assigned to that driver at the conclusion of each day's run. Outside will be cleaned off when necessary and washed weekly.   • Teaching Assignments No employee shall be assigned to teach in a grade level and/or subject area not within the scope of his/her teaching certificate, except where a position within his/her certification is unavailable or when mutually agreed to by the affected employee and principal, or when determined necessary by the principal. Employees assigned to positions outside the scope of their certificates shall be assigned as soon as possible to positions for which they hold certification.

  • Shift Assignments When an opening occurs in a shift assignment in an appropriate work group at a location, preference shall be given to employees within the classification who possess the training, ability and any required special qualifications to perform the work required, on the basis of seniority. In the event that no employee desires a shift assignment, employees shall be selected in order of inverse seniority. This provision shall not apply to necessary training assignments. This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.
