Division Seniority. In transferring employees from one classification to another when vacancies or new positions are created or in cases of layoff, promotion and re-hiring employees temporarily laid off, the rule of seniority shall prevail on a division- wide basis on related work or on work previously performed, based on ability to efficiently perform the work involved.

Division Seniority. Division seniority shall be measured by continuous service as an employee of the City and UG with the Water Pollution Control Division. This service shall be measured from the date of last hire in the Division. Seniority shall be broken as provided in Sec. 6.1 and additionally if any employee transfers from the Division to another UG department, Division, Section or Unit, then his Division seniority shall be broken. In case of disputes concerning Division seniority, the employer’s records shall govern this measurement. In the event Division seniority is the same, the senior employee shall be determined alphabetically by the last name of the employee. Temporary or part- time employees shall not accumulate nor exercise any Division seniority rights. Division seniority will be utilized in promotions and bidding as provided in Article 7 for the bargaining unit positions of Building Custodian/Messenger, General Maintenance Worker, Lab Sample Collector, and any other entry level position in existence or which is created.

  • Classification Seniority Classification Seniority" is defined as the length of service in a specific job classification within the bargaining unit, beginning with the date an employee starts to serve a probationary appointment. Classification Seniority shall be interrupted only by separation because of resignation, discharge for just cause, failure to return upon expiration of a leave of absence, failure to respond to a recall from layoff, or retirement.

  • District Seniority District seniority is defined as the length of continuous paid employment with the District, calculated from the date of original hire, including the probationary period, if any, in a regular position.

  • SENIORITY 11.01 Seniority shall mean an employee's length of service with the Employer.
