Detective. A member of Burlington Township Police Department who is assigned by the Public Safety Director/Chief Law Enforcement Officer to conduct criminal investigations in civilian clothing.
Detective. Employees assigned to the Detective Unit shall typically work a forty (40) hour workweek consisting of five (5) consecutive eight (8) hour shifts, followed by two (2) consecutive days off. Detectives may also work four (4) consecutive ten (10) hour shifts, followed by three (3) consecutive days off. Employees shall typically receive two (2) fifteen (15) minute breaks during each workday and one (1), one (1) hour meal period during each workday, for which pay will be received.
Detective. The City shall select and assign officers to Detective. Assignments shall be for an indefinite period based on performance. All members of the bargaining unit with a minimum of three (3) years service with the Burbank Police Department, and currently in the Police Officer (830.1 PC) classification shall be eligible to participate in the selection for the Detective assignment. Although the Civil Service Rules may be utilized as a guideline for testing, there will be no requirement for the Department to adhere to the Civil Service Rules in filling this assignment. The Department will issue rules for the testing process for creating the assignment list in advance, which shall provide for a fair and competitive testing process. The process will include, but is not limited to a written test and an oral interview panel.
Detective. The pay differential for an officer assigned as a detective shall be four percent (4%).

Detective. Employees assigned by the Sheriff to the position of Detective shall receive an additional 5% of incentive pay to their base monthly salary per month. If for any operational necessity/incident, the Sheriff deems it appropriate to assign a deputy to the position of Detective on a temporary basis and the temporary assignment lasts longer than five (5) days, the deputy shall be paid twenty-five additional dollars ($25) per week of the temporary assignment.
Detective. Five (5) years continuous service at the time of testing, including eighteen (18) months service as a Deputy Sheriff-Law Enforcement Division working in Road Patrol. For purposes of this assignment all time spent on Interagency Investigative Unit may be substituted for Road Patrol service.
Detective. A. Detective vacancies shall be filled by assignment from a list of qualified and interested officers, at the discretion of the Chief of Police, and shall not be considered a promotion. If there are no qualified and interested officers, the Chief shall maintain the right to appoint a qualified officer. If a Detective chooses to be reassigned to the patrol unit, he/she will be reassigned only if a vacancy exists within the unit.
