Common use of DESIGNATED PAID HOLIDAYS Clause in Contracts

DESIGNATED PAID HOLIDAYS. Clause 14.01 (granting of designated holidays) does not apply to an employee who is absent without pay on both the working day immediately preceding and the working day following the designated paid holiday, except in the case of an employee who is granted leave without pay under the provisions of Article 11 (Time Off for Representatives and Union Business), and in respect to whom the Union has certified that the employee was paid by the Union for Union business conducted on the working day immediately preceding and the working day immediately following the designated holiday.
