DEPARTMENT CHAIR DUTIES. The Department Chair is a faculty leadership position with responsibility for an instructional department as designated by the District. While the Department Chair is a faculty member and does not have the authority to discipline other faculty, the Department Chair does have the responsibility to carry out policies formulated by the District and the Department, and the responsibility to report unresolved problems or violations of District policy to the appropriate administrator, and the responsibility to coordinate the activities of the department. The Department Chair receives compensation as provided for in Appendix G of this contract and performs the duties set below. Chairs are first and foremost faculty. To do their jobs effectively, they shall be provided by the Administration with appropriate data in already usable form and given sufficient windows of time in which to complete scheduling and other essential functions.

DEPARTMENT CHAIR DUTIES. Department Chair Duties shall include working in cooperation with the Division Chair and Xxxx to: ● Facilitate communication among full-time and part-time faculty within the department. ● Coordinate the screening and hiring procedures for part-time instructors and the pool of part-time departmental instructors, working in close cooperation with the appropriate Xxxx, the Office of Human Resources, and the appropriate Division Chairperson. ● Monitor Department budget expenditures: assume responsibility for completion of appropriate budgetary tasks in a reasonable time. ● Participate in division and department meetings ● Work with the Division Chair, Xxxx and department faculty to facilitate the development of the class schedule ● Coordinate department program review, annual program review updates, action plans, and learning outcomes assessment (PLOs and SLOs) ● Ensure that the department’s curriculum is reviewed and updated as appropriate to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines, including identifying pedagogically appropriate class size, articulation requests, and assessment cycles.
DEPARTMENT CHAIR DUTIES. The Director and Associate Xxxx for SGISD is Xxxxxx Xxxxx, who after consultation with SGISD faculty, was appointed to this role. The administration re-affirms that Xxxxxx Xxxxx has been duly and appropriately appointed to this role. The School for the Environment, another academic unit without departments, does not have a department chair's level review for faculty personnel actions. Given this precedent, the administration and the faculty agree SGISD forgo department chair level reviews for all faculty major personnel reviews.

  • Department Chairs The release time required to perform the administrative functions of the Department Chair positions shall be deducted from the total workload of the Department Chair with no less than fifty percent (50%) of this release taken from direct instructional duties.

  • Department Chairperson The department Chairperson has the dual responsibility of leading the department in fulfilling its responsibilities in academic and personnel areas and of facilitating the functioning of the department. The department Chairperson is the normal channel of communications between the department and other departments, division/areas or like groupings, offices and the administration.

  • Department Chairpersons The principal shall designate a high school librarian to serve as department chairperson, and such chairperson shall attend all school department chairperson meetings.

  • Department Responsibilities The use of sick leave may properly be denied if these procedures are not followed. Abuse of sick leave on the part of the employee is cause for disciplinary action. Departmental approval of sick leave is a certification of the legitimacy of the sick leave claim. The department head or designee may make reasonable inquiries about employee absences. The department may require medical verification for an absence of three (3) or more working days. The department may also require medical verification for absences of less than three (3) working days for probable cause if the employee had been notified in advance in writing that such verification was necessary. Inquiries may be made in the following ways:

  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT The Department agrees to:

  • Association Responsibilities 1. The organization shall keep an adequate itemized record of its financial transactions and shall make available annually to the City Clerk, and to all unit employees, within sixty (60) calendar days after the end of its fiscal year, a detailed written financial report thereof in the form of a balance sheet and an operating statement, certified as to its accuracy by its president and the treasurer or corresponding principal officer, or by a certified public accountant.

  • Department of Health and Human Services An employee notified of a positive controlled substance or alcohol test result may request an independent test of their split sample at the employee’s expense. If the test result is negative, the Employer will reimburse the employee for the cost of the split sample test. An employee who has a positive alcohol test and/or a positive controlled substance test may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, based on the incident that prompted the testing, including a violation of the drug and alcohol free work place rules.

  • DEPARTMENT'S REPRESENTATIVE The Contract Administrator shall be the Department's representative during the period of this Contract. He/she has authority to curtail services if necessary to ensure proper execution. He/she shall certify to the Department when payments under the Contract are due and the amounts to be paid. He/she shall make decisions on all claims of the Provider, subject to the approval of the Commissioner of the Department.

  • Superintendent's Duties The Superintendent’s duties shall be as prescribed by statute and by Board policies, rules, regulations and directives. The Superintendent agrees to devote the Superintendent’s time, skill, labor and attention to all required duties throughout the contract term. The Superintendent shall be subject to the direction and control of the Board at all times and shall perform such administrative duties as the Board assigns. By agreement with the Board, the Superintendent may undertake consultative work, speaking engagements, writing, lecturing, or other professional duties and obligations as long as they do not interfere with carrying out the Superintendent’s duties and obligations to the District.
