Demotion Wage Placement. An employee who voluntarily demotes to a lower 16 level classification shall be placed at a step on the new pay range which is the closest step to their 17 current pay rate, but does not result in a pay increase and does not exceed the top step of the new 18 range. An employee who is involuntarily demoted for disciplinary reasons to a lower level 19 classification shall be placed at the same step in the lower pay range as they were prior to the 20 demotion.
