Death Leave. A maximum of five (5) days per school year will be allowed for death in the immediate family. Immediate family to be interpreted as husband, wife, children, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, step- parents, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. In the event of a death which is not defined above, a leave of absence may be granted, upon request, by the Superintendent at his discretion.
Death Leave. Absence due to the death of a member of the immediate family, for a period not to exceed five (5) working days.
Death Leave. 27.1 Up to three days shall be allowed an officer without deduction in pay by reason of the death of a member of the officer’s immediate family. With the approval of the Chief of Police or the Chief’s designee, an additional three days leave with no deduction in pay may be allowed for necessary funeral travel time. If the death is of the officer’s spouse or child, the Chief shall have the discretion to approve up to a total of thirty (30) days of paid death leave, including the leave described elsewhere in this article. The Chief’s decision shall be final, and shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.

Definition of immediate family, husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, step children, grandchildren, and grandparents. Additional days may be granted upon request to the Superintendent. The Superintendent may grant this leave for the death of other persons where such leave is justifiable.

However, death leave days do not carry over to school days from vacations and breaks if the leave days normally would have been used if school was in session.

Subd. 1 Leaves of absence without salary deduction and without deduction from accrued basic leave will be granted to employees who have completed their probationary period and are regularly scheduled to work at least fourteen (14) hours per week in the event of a death in the employee's family pursuant to the rules of this Article. Death leave for employees still in their probationary period will be deducted from basic leave. Requests must be made to the employee's supervisor in writing for leave under this provision. Said written request must set forth the basis for the requested leave. Subd. 2 Up to five (5) days per occurrence will be allowed in the case of the death of the employee's parents, sister, brother, spouse, child, grandchild, or blood relation residing in the same household.

When death occurs in the immediate family of an employee, such employee shall be granted two (2) days leave without loss of pay during his standard work schedule to attend the funeral. There will be no benefits paid on death leave. An employee's immediate family shall be considered as: husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother ,grandmother, grandfather, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. There shall be no future additions or deletions from this list.
Death Leave. Leave of a maximum of four (4) calendar days per occurrence shall be granted in case of death in the immediate family, and this shall not be deducted from accrued leave time. Immediate family shall be defined as mother, father, stepfather, stepmother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers, sisters, husband or wife, children of employee, step-children, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Days off must be within consecutive working days, provided, however, that one such day shall be the day of the funeral and it is established that the employee attended the funeral. Advance notification of the leave must be provided to the superintendent. Requests for additional family members may be granted by the Superintendent.
Death Leave. Absence due to death of a family member of the immediate family may be charged to sick leave to the extent of one (1) to five (5) scheduled working days as necessary for each death.
