Custodial Staff. The normal work week shall consist of five (5), eight (8) hour days. No eight (8) hour shift shall be spread over a period longer than nine (9) hours with a maximum of one (1) hour off for lunch. The work shift must begin on or after 6:00 am and end on or before 11:00 pm. Custodians whose shift is five (5) hours or more will be provided one-half (1/2) hour paid lunch if commencing work after 2:30 pm.

Custodial Staff. A. Custodians will be allowed a maximum of $300 allowance to cover work boots, hoodies, coats, etc. with approval from Superintendent. Employees must purchase items through the school district.
Custodial Staff. Custodial employees shall work eight (8) hours per day, on either the day shift or evening shift, the day shift being 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the evening shift being 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Subject to operational requirements and the school year, the evening shift may be discontinued and employees shall be scheduled for the day shift.
Custodial Staff. The nature of the work requires that these employees report. For this reason, a snow bank of twenty (20) hours pay is made available at the start of each year. The employees in this classification must attempt to get to work unless otherwise notified by the superintendent or his designee. Employees who do not report will be docked for the time missed. An employee who works at least four (4) hours may use hours from his snow bank to bring the total pay to eight (8) hours for the day. The employee will be docked all hours missed in excess of the twenty (20) hours provided for in the snow bank. Earned bank hours should be used when students are not in session and do not carry over to the next school year.
Custodial Staff. A. The Superintendent of Schools may dismiss a custodian beyond the probationary period by giving sixty (60) calendar days notice in writing. Such dismissal shall be accompanied by written charges brought because of inefficiency, incapacity, conduct unbecoming a custodian, or other just charges. Any custodian who has been employed full-time beyond a period of one (1) year, shall have the right to appeal the dismissal action of the Superintendent to the Board of Education. This appeal must be submitted, in writing, to the Secretary of the Board within fifteen (15) calendar days of notification of dismissal. The formal hearing of the appeal by the Board shall take place within fifteen (15) calendar days of its receipt by the Secretary. It shall require a majority of the entire Board (five (5) votes) to sustain the action of the Superintendent; otherwise, the custodian will be reinstated to his/her position. The vote shall not be delayed beyond the next regularly scheduled meeting. Failure to vote within this prescribed time shall be deemed a decision adverse to dismissal. Further, it shall be the responsibility of the School Business Administrator to make certain that adequate procedures exist to inform a custodian in writing that his/her performance does not meet standards required by the District. Any custodian beyond the probationary period must receive written notification from the School Business Administrator that a recommendation of dismissal is being made to the Superintendent and that termination of employment could result. This notification shall be accompanied by reasons, also in writing, as to why said recommendation is being made. None of the above is to be construed as waiving the authority of the Superintendent to suspend any employee, professional or non-professional. (Such right is established by law.) This does not apply to custodians who have not satisfactorily completed their probationary period nor does it apply to custodians who are dismissed due to reduction in force.
Custodial Staff. Ifa job is abolished by the district, any affected employee required to change jobs within the bargaining unit may not lose more than $1.00 per hour regardless ofthe position they end up working in. Seniority also prevails in "bumping positions" in the case oflayoffs, school closings or job eliminations. The employee affected can bump anyone lower than themselves in seniority but only for the reasons stated above. Ifa person bumps a person in a higher classification, that person will have to pass a test administered by the Facilities Director.

If additional snow make-up days (minutes) are needed, they will follow the last scheduled day (minutes) of student classes. Custodial Staff. It is the intent of the Xxxxxxxxxx Board of Education to employ all regular contractual employees in the maintenance, custodial, bus driver and van driver classifications for the duration of the contract, providing they have received satisfactory evaluations. This job security clause does not preclude the Board's right to reduce the workforce due to declining enrollment, to dismiss an employee for just cause or other legally legitimate reason. In the event of a reduction in force (RIF), seniority in the district as calculated from the first day of employment shall be considered as one of the criteria for determining the order of lay-off.
