Crown Witness. The Company will pay an employee who is required to appear as a crown witness in any court of law in Ontario the difference between his/her normal pay and the amount of compensation received for such service. The employee will present proof of service and the amount of pay received.

Crown Witness. A nurse who is subpoenaed as a crown witness shall be granted a leave of absence of up to two (2) working days. The nurse shall be paid one (1) normal day’s pay for the loss of each working day of such service provided she/he reports for work when not actually required for witness duty and provided she/he deposits with the Regional Treasurer the amount of fees, if any, other than expenses received for such service. The nurse on returning to work shall present a certificate showing the period of such service and the amount of compensation received. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a nurse shall receive one (1) normal day’s pay for each day of service as a witness in any matter arising out of her/his employment.

Crown Witness a) An employeeshall be granted a leave of absence with pay at his regular hourly rate, for the normally scheduled number of hours the employee would otherwise have worked, for the purpose of serving jury duty, or if required, as a subpoenaed Crown Witness. The employee will present proof of jury duty or confirmation that he has appeared as a subpoenaed Gown Witness, together with documentation showing the amount he has received. Thereafter, shall deduct from the pay of the employee the full amount of jury pay or Crown Witness pay received by the employee. Employees do not have to report for work on those days they are required for jury duty or as a subpoenaed Gown Witness. Furthermore, they are not required to report back to work on that day if they are required past ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT Employees will, upon request, be granted up to three (3) days off with pay between the date of the death and the date of the funeral to make arrangements for and/or to attend the funeral of a member of their immediate family. Immediate family shall mean father, mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, spouse, (including common-law spouse) and children of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, step-child, step-parent, step-brother, step-sister, brother-in- law, sister-in-law. It is understood and agreed that employees will not be paid for any days they would not have normally worked between the date of the death and the date of the funeral. For example, employees would not be paid for Saturdays, Sundays, designated paid holidays, nor while they were on vacation or on approved leave of absence, unless they were scheduled to work that day or days.
