Critical Illness Leave. (i) An Employee who has completed at least ninety (90) days of employment, and is a family member of a critically ill child or a critically ill qualified adult relative, is entitled to leave of absence without pay or benefits: • for a period of up to thirty-six (36) weeks to care for their critically ill child; or, • for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks to care for a critically ill qualified adult relative.

Critical Illness Leave. Employees will be entitled to take Critical Illness Leave. Notification, eligibility, definition of family member, and duration requirements shall be as per Alberta Employment Standards legislation.
Critical Illness Leave. Three (3) days of critical illness leave per year (non-accumulative) shall be granted each regular member in the event of critical illness or injury to a member of his/her immediate family. A physician must provide a statement indicating that the nature of the illness or injury is critical. The word “critical” as used herein is defined as it is used in the medical profession, indicating that there is serious doubt concerning the survival of the patient.
Critical Illness Leave. The Employee shall be granted 2 consecutive days’ critical illness leave in any 1 year in the event of hospitalisation of his spouse, child(ren) or parents.

Critical Illness Leave. At the discretion of the Employer, leave with pay may be granted up to a maximum of five (5) work days per occurrence, to a permanent or probationary employee in the event of critical illness of the employee's immediate family member as defined in Clause 18.07. Leave for critical illness is considered special leave. The Employer may decide that the leave is more appropriate under the provisions of Clause 18.07. Such leave will not be unduly withheld. Consideration will be given to providing reasonable traveling time for travel outside the Province.
Critical Illness Leave. An employee may also use sick leave not to exceed five (5) days per incident for the serious illness of a spouse, parent, adult child, fiancé, sibling, grandchild, in-law, or member of the household. Subject to the discretion and pre-approval of the superintendent or designee, employees may use up to five (5) additional sick days for the serious illness of a spouse, parent, or adult child; however, the granting of such leave will require a doctor's certificate specifying that attendant care is required for the disabled person.
