Critical Illness. Three (3) days per year with pay shall be granted in the case of critical illness or accident to a member of the employee's immediate family as defined in Section 7.4. A statement by the physician verifying the illness or accident is life threatening and the need for the employee to be present with the immediate family member shall be attached to the employee’s Report of Absence form when submitted to his or her immediate supervisor. To qualify for critical illness leave, the situation must be or relate to an illness or condition involving the danger of death.
Critical Illness b. On payment of a Claim under Benefit I, the cover will cease in respect for that Insured Person.

To facilitate effective management of the benefit plans described in the “Schedule of Benefits”, the Parties shall form a Joint Benefit Committee which shall review premiums, plan usage, renewal, administration and costs and may meet with the insurance carrier(s) from time to time to discuss the various components of the benefits described in the “Schedule of Benefits”. Any changes to the benefits coverage shall be subject to negotiations between the Employer and the Union.

A teacher shall be granted up to five (5) days leave of absence with pay in one school year in the case of critical illness or condition which poses a serious threat to the life of a member of the teacher’s immediate family: the spouse (including common-law and same-sex partners), child and step-child (including in-law), parent (including in-law), guardian, sibling and step-siblings (including in-law), grandchild or grandparent of an employee (including in- law). The Board may require that such illness or condition be certified by the attending physician.
