Course Information. The Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events (ERASE) Course is put on by ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) through Texas State University, and is being hosted by the Aransas Pass Police Department. This class was previously put on at this same location a few years ago and was hosted by the Aransas County Sheriff’s Office. This class trains officers for an open‐air active shooter event and focuses on vehicle ambushes, medical emergencies, officer/civilian rescue, team movement techniques, and general crisis response. There will be no live fire during this training and it will only consist of simunitions, which are non‐marking plastic projectiles. The velocity of these projectiles are extremely low and the maximum distance the simunitions can travel under perfect circumstances is 480ft, so there will be no chance of them interfering with any other activities at the airport. TRAINING LOCATION / GENERAL INFOMRATION The training location will consist of the uninhabited brush/grass area on the north side of the Aransas County Airport property. The area used will be the double circle drive (Xxxxx Loop) and north of that location (see attached map). Aransas Pass Police Department will provide portable restrooms and hand washing stations. Captain Xxxxx Xxxxx will be the primary contact for this training and he (or an APPD representative) will be present during all training events. He can be reached at (361) 758‐5224 X2421 or (361) 318‐5399. This course will be attended by several law enforcement agencies from the South Texas Area including, but not limited to, Aransas Pass Police Department, Rockport Police Department, Aransas County Sheriff’s Office, Port Aransas Police Department, Ingleside Police Department and Portland Police Department.
