CONTRIBUTIONS BY THE UNIVERSITY. In the design of its interpretation course and in the choice of students the University shall strive to take account of the recruitment profile of DG LINC and ensure use of teaching material related to the European Parliament. The University shall ensure that students are trained to the highest professional standard, by progressively exposing them to speeches of a realistic level of difficulty and by employing amongst others practising interpreters accredited to the European institutions or international organisations to teach interpreting classes. The University shall strive to develop capabilities allowing participation in virtual coaching by videoconferences and/or other e-learning activities and shall ensure that students are trained to use modern information and communication technologies in their workplace. If compliant with the national and/or regional legislation, the University shall strive to appoint as coordinator of the Masters course an experienced conference interpreter, preferably accredited to the European institutions or international organisations, with strong training background. Where this is not the case, an interpreter with the aforementioned profile shall be involved in designing the programme and setting the pedagogical objectives for the course. The University shall strive to avoid fixing a minimum number of participants for the course to take place. The Masters course should be a full time course with a minimum duration of one academic year and ideally two academic years. The Masters course will include in its curriculum at least 70 % of practical classes in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation and incorporate the use of new technologies. The University shall strive to offer language combinations which meet the needs of the European Parliament and shall award the diploma only if a candidate is successful in both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting in a minimum of two language combinations. The University will invite a member of staff of DG LINC to participate in the panel for the final exams of the Masters course. If compliant with the national and/or regional legislation, the staff member of DG LINC shall have full voting rights. The University shall publicise broadly the opportunities offered by a career in conference interpretation among potential students of the Masters course, bearing in mind that candidates may come from a variety of disciplines. CONTRIBUTIONS BY THE UNIVERSITY. (1) The University shall contribute each year an amount equal to the aggregate regular employee contributions for the year. NOTIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY The Employer will provide, to the Trustees of the CUPE 1001 Pension Plan, an annual report indicating all part time members not enrolled in the pension plan. Such report shall also include the membersseniority dates and the total number of hours worked within each of the previous two (2) calendar years. The Trustees of the C.U.P.E. Local 1001 Pension Plan will be responsible for notifying the University of those eligible Part-Time members who desire to join the plan.
CONTRIBUTIONS BY THE UNIVERSITY. The University shall contribute an amount equal to the total of the required contributions of Members of the Plan up to an overall limit of 7.0% of Members' Earnings during each month of the year, and shall in addition contribute such amount as is certified by the Actuary as appropriate to make provision for the funding of benefits to be provided from the Minimum Guarantee Fund. All contributions made by the University shall comply with the requirements of the Applicable Legislation. In no event will the University make any contribution to the Minimum Guarantee Fund which is not an "eligible contribution" under the Income Tax Act. If required by actuarial certificate, the University's contribution will be increased to meet the requirements of the Pension Benefits Act regarding any special payments which may arise in the operation of the Plan. An amount sufficient to match the required contributions of each Member during the year up to an overall limit of 7.0% of the Member's Earnings will be credited to the individual Member's Money Purchase Component Account and the balance of the University's contribution will be credited to the Minimum Guarantee Fund, or such other account as may be deemed appropriate. The Waterloo Lutheran Seminary shall continue to contribute such amount as is certified by the Actuary as appropriate to make provision for the funding of benefits to be provided from the Minimum Guarantee Fund in respect of the Members employed by the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary until all of such benefits payable from the Plan have been paid.

The Employer agrees to provide Workplace Safety Insurance for employees in the Bargaining Unit. Except as otherwise herein provided the foregoing payments shall be made by the Employer only so long as the employee is working under the terms of this Agreement. The Employer agrees to provide reasonable work for those members of the Bargaining Unit who have received Workplace Safety Insurance Board wage payments as a result of an injury incurred while performing work for the Employer, and are subsequently disqualified by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board from receiving further wage payments. The employee shall make written application to the Employer for such work within thirty (30) days of official notice being received from the Workplace Safety Insurance Board that the employee is disqualified from further wage payments. The Employer must provide such work within thirty (30) days following receipt of an employee's written request. If an employee rejects the job of work made available by the Employer, the entire obligation of the Employer with reference to the within clause is terminated. It is agreed if the provided work is to be permanently performed outside the Bargaining Unit, employees engaging in such work shall no longer be covered by the provisions of the within Contractual Agreement. The Employer agrees to use its best efforts to provide reasonable work which they are qualified to perform for members of the Bargaining Unit who have not reached their (65th) birthday and who have been disqualified from receiving Long Term Continuance Insurance Benefits.
