Container Plants. Plantings will be spaced in natural-looking patterns. The placement and spacing of plantings will be similar to the natural groupings and patterns of vegetation growing in similar native habitats. Planting of container plants will be done in accordance with site specific HMMP and permits. Planting will be initiated no later than 10 working days after the “Notice to Proceed” is issued by the County and District Inspector/Project Manager. No pruning of plant materials will be allowed unless specified by the site specific HMMP and permits. The roots of the container stock will be protected from drying during planting. All plant installations will be in accordance with site specific HMMP. Contractor is expected to prepare soil for container stock in a way to ensure successful transplanting and survival. Full compensation for the requirements of CONTAINER PLANT STOCK (1 to 5 GALLONS) including labor, tools, equipment, materials and all incidentals necessary to complete the work shall be made on the Contract unit price per EACH and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor. Container Plants. Provide healthy, vigorous plants with a well-established root system reaching the sides of the containers that will remain as a firm root ball after removal from the container, but shall not be root bound (excessive root growth encircling the inside of the container). Root-bound plants will be rejected.
