Conflict of Interest Statement. In the relatively small world of chamber music, it is inevitable that top level students and young professionals will have some contact at various points in their training with top level professionals such as are on the Jury of The Fischoff Competition. The Fischoff makes every effort to ensure that the competition is fair to all who perform. The Jury is instructed specifically about possible conflicts of interest with ensembles or members of an ensemble. This can include that he or she has worked with an ensemble as a coach or in a masterclass, or has worked with any individuals in an ensemble as a teacher or in a masterclass. Jurors are also instructed to avoid conversations with any performers they know who are still performing in a round of the Competition. Performers are also instructed to avoid contact with the Jurors while their ensemble is still in a performing round of the Competition. Fischoff believes it is valuable for musicians to have the opportunity to meet and speak with the Jurors. Such contacts could prove meaningful in the future. This opportunity is afforded ensembles on Saturday evening, with the exception of finalist ensembles. Finalists will be able to speak with jurors at the reception on Sunday evening.
