Concerts. 6.3.1 Concerts may be scheduled at 2, 2.5 hours or 3 hours in length.
Concerts. All concerts are mandatory. Students are not allowed to rehearse with the orchestra if they cannot play the concert. A student absent from a concert without prior permission may be asked to leave the program for the rest of the season. Scheduling Record rehearsal and concert schedules on the family calendar so these dates are reserved prior to other planning. When possible, plan family vacations and weekend outings to avoid conflicts with rehearsals. Consider leaving for vacations after Saturday morning rehearsals. Please inform the conductor before withdrawing from an orchestra. Withdrawing from an orchestra any time after a trimester begins will result in reassignment of parts, re-seating of the section, loss of principal status and/or expulsion from the orchestra. Students who leave are responsible for paying full tuition for that trimester. Students will be allowed to return only if their position has not been filled and at the discretion of the conductor. As members of MYS, it is expected that our musicians be on their best behavior during rehearsal and while at any function where they represent the orchestra. Our goal is to make sure we do our best to keep all our students safe, maintain a positive public image, and provide the proper learning environment. Participation in MYS is subject to the observance of the organization’s rules and procedures as outlined below. General Rules
Concerts. A Concert will always be defined as being 3 hours in length and will be treated as a Standard Session as in 2.1 above as per a concert day. Any concert lasting over 3 hours will be subject to overtime as per clause 4, and will not be subject to the Long Session rate, except in the case of concerts with an extended interval which shall be treated as a Long Session. Such concerts lasting over 4.5 hours will be subject to overtime. Contracted days in which a concert takes place will always be paid as consisting of no less than 6 hours (2 Standard Sessions). It is understood that scheduling more than 7.5 hours’ session time on a concert day (except where the concert contains an extended interval) is to be avoided where possible; if further session time is required this must be discussed and agreed with the Musicians’ Union well in advance.

Concerts. Attendance at concerts is mandatory except for extreme illness, death in the family, or engagements of long standing where the band director has been given advance notice in writing -- six (6) weeks in advance for programs listed on the school calendar, ten (10) days or more for programs not listed on the school calendar. Band students must be seated in time for the warm-up and tuning session before the performance. Students not arriving in time to be warmed up and tuned with their respective band will not be allowed to perform. Parents anticipating a problem getting their child to the performance area on time need to notify the band director so that transportation arrangements can be made in advance.
Concerts. The may schedule up to five (5) three-service Saturdays for Young People's Concerts These three-service Saturdays will be scheduled on the following basis: one and one-half (1%) hour rehearsal without intermission or entitlementthereto, and two (2) series concerts of sixty (60) minutes each (repeated programme). A five (5) minute grace period will be permitted on the first performance of a before overtime payments come into effect. The total elapsed period for rehearsal and concerts is not to exceed consecutive hours. Any week in which this clause is utilized and in which there are a total of nine (9) services will be offset by a seven (7) service week in the same season as per above. Split-OrchestraWeeks Provided the application of this paragraph does not decrease the number of subscription weeks in any season, the orchestra may be split into two groups, eight (8) weeks per season, under the following conditions: No Musician shall play in more than one group during one week. Each group will have a minimum of ten players. A conductor is not required provided there has been consultation with the Orchestra Committee. Rehearsal for each group will occur only during the week of the split. One or both groups may perform under the guidelines of Article One or both groups may perform services at appropriate venues within radius driving distance of Toronto City Hall on three occasions in each season of this Agreement, provided that all other terms stipulated elsewhere in this Agreement apply thereto. All Split-Orchestra services will be ventures or joint ventures, subject to the terms and conditions of the Agreement. All decisions with regard to the assignment of musicians for Split-Orchestra services are the responsibility of the Music Director. Best efforts will be undertaken to distribute this work on an equitable basis. Services Per Day The orchestra shall not be required to give more than two (2) services in one day, except as provided in Article The will endeavour to ensure that the next service following the conclusion of any evening service shall take place no earlier than twelve (12) hours after the conclusion of the evening service.

Concerts. The Operator will be required to host minimum of seven (7) Concerts in 2024 and a minimum of ten (10) each year thereafter.
Concerts. Should the Employer require a higher than normal number of employees to cover a concert, the Employer will post for volunteers to work on their day off and will schedule those who volunteer by seniority. Should there be an insufficient number of volunteers; the Employer may schedule a part time employee no greater than four (4) days per calendar year on their day off by reverse seniority.
