Compensatory Time Option. With authorization of the department and the employee, an employee may elect to be compensated for overtime or holiday work in the form of compensatory time off rather than pay. Such election must be made in advance, either on a standing or ad hoc basis. Either party may require that overtime be compensated in pay. Such compensatory time off may be accumulated to a maximum of eighty (80) hours. Unused compensatory time shall be paid off at the employee's regular rate at the time of termination or transfer to another department.

Compensatory Time Option. Employees shall be paid for overtime unless an employee agrees to receive compensatory time in lieu of payment for overtime, to a maximum of sixty (60) cumulative hours. Employees shall be allowed to utilize accrued compensatory time at any time unless it can be demonstrated that the time off will impair the operations of the College. Compensatory time off may be scheduled by the employing official during the final sixty (60) days of a year. Employees who earn compensatory time off by working during commencement will attempt to schedule time off prior to the end of the fiscal year, but if unable to do so will receive overtime pay.
Compensatory Time Option. The parties recognize that compensatory time (comp time) is a form of payment for overtime. Time will accumulate at the rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) hours for each overtime hour worked or according to Holiday compensation as specified in Article 22. When an Employee works overtime, the Employee, at his or her discretion, may choose whether to take comp time or receive overtime pay. Comp time shall only accumulate up to a total of eighty (80) hours. Comp time hours may be taken in multiples of two (2) hours and will require the prior approval of the Director or his or her designee. Such approval shall not be unreasonably denied. However, in certain circumstances the Director, in his sole discretion, may grant comp time usage of a shorter duration. Unused comp time shall be paid at the current rate of pay, and at an employee’s option up to forty (40) hours of comp time may be paid out any time during the calendar year provided the Employer is provided at least two (2) weeks’ notice and based on Department budget constraints. Unused comp time may be carried over from year to year. Upon separation from service with the Gallia 911 Center for any reason, Employees shall be paid at their current rate of pay for all accumulated but unused hours of comp time. When an Employee dies while in paid status in the County service, any accumulated but unused comp time to his or her credit shall be paid in a lump sum to the surviving spouse or to the estate of the deceased.

Compensatory Time Option. In situations where it is determined to be in the best interests of the Employer (which may also include training and/or schools) and mutually agreed by the Employer’s designated representative and the affected employee, the Employer shall grant compensatory time off in lieu of overtime payment at a rate of time and one half. In such situations, compensatory time shall be granted at such times and in such time blocks as are mutually agreed upon between the involved employee and the Fire Chief or his designated representative; permission to utilize compensatory time shall not be unreasonably denied by the Fire Chief or his designated representative, if operating requirements will not be adversely affected. Employees who do not use accumulated compensatory time by the end of the calendar year shall be compensated for the hours worked at the appropriate rate. Employees may accumulate compensatory time in amounts as permitted under regulations of the United States Department of Labor. Compensatory time off under this section may also be requested in instances of non- mandatory training occurring outside regularly scheduled shift hours.
