Compensation for Holiday Work. Employees who work on an observed holiday shall be paid 1.5 times their regular rate of pay for such hours worked. In addition, the employees shall receive their regular pay for the holiday.

When an employee's work schedule requires him/her to work on an observed holiday, the employee shall be paid the regular pay at a straight-time rate, including any shift differential. In addition, the employee receives either holiday pay at the regular straight-time rate, including any shift differential, or compensatory time off.

In the event that the time worked on such a holiday is also overtime, as provided in Section 15 of this Agreement, payment will be made for the hours worked either 2021 – 2024 Memorandum Agreement City of Berkeley SEIU Local 1021 Maintenance and Clerical Chapters as overtime under said Section 15, or as holiday pay under this Section 20, but will not be made under both Sections.

Compensation for Holiday Work. Librarians will be paid at the regular straight time rate of pay for the day. In addition, he/she will receive holiday credit equivalent to a day off. This will be prorated for part-time employees.

All employees assigned to work on holidays shall receive cash compensation or compensatory *time off at a rate of time and one half in addition to the regular pay received for the holiday. *Excludes Food Service, School Bus Driver, Substitute Custodian and Substitute School Bus Driver employees.
