Compatibility of materials. Neither the adhesive nor the retroreflective material shall affect the mechanical performance of the helmet according to the related tests in the present Regulation.
Compatibility of materials. The materials used in construction of any foam dispensing unit shall be compatible with all foams. Materials shall be resistant to corrosion, erosion, etching, or softening. To evaluate the materials, submerge in foam concentrate for 96 hours then in a 1½% solution for 96-hours. Material samples shall be measured, weighed and visually examined to insure that deterioration of the materials and the assembly does not occur with operational use. Unacceptable conditions may be, but are not limited to cracking, crazing, softening, joint separation, bulging, diminished wall thickness, glue or mastic breakdown, or defective fasteners, gaskets or fittings.
