Compassionate Grant. 3.22.1 (a) A compassionate grant shall be paid by employers to a partner, or if there is no partner, to the next of kin of an employee who dies while employed in the state teaching service. A compassionate grant is not payable to the spouse of a retired employee who dies, whether employed in the state teaching service or not.
