Community Use of Schools. When board/designated permits the use of the schools facilities by outside groups and the Board/Designated determines a custodial is necessary these hours will be offered as extra hours to temporary relief employees on a rotation basis who have not work 40 hours in the week. If no temporary relief employees are available then permanent custodial staff shall be called in for such activities as per Article 17.08 Minimum Call-Back Time.
Community Use of Schools. Employees who normally open and close schools shall be given the opportunity to open and close schools at their regular rate of pay when school buildings are open for community use. Employees required to report to work due to community use of facilities on weekends are guaranteed a minimum of four (4) hours of assigned work. This guarantee is regardless of the group(s) requesting the use of facility not showing or not giving 24-hour notice of cancellation.

Issues to be discussed will include, but not be limited to: • Requirements established by the Alberta Boiler Safety Association; • Safety and security of buildings; • Supervision of user groups within district facilities. Further, the District commits to such consultation prior to the Board consideration of a renewed or amended Joint Use Agreement. Letter of Understanding #8 Staff Cleaning Guidelines The Employer commits to the Local that all schools will meet the guidelines whereby their custodial staff will clean between 2500 and 3000 square feet per hour per FTE. This Letter of Understanding expires August 31, 2014, with the option of renewal.

Conditional upon the approval by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (if applicable), the Crown will maintain the $58,137 in community use of schools funding, in the Grants for Student Needs, in the 2019-2020 school year (as shown in Appendix V), and the level of funding will continue into the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. It is intended that this funding be used to staff schools with OSSTF/FEESO-represented custodians during community use, consistent with local collective agreements and existing board policies, procedures and practices. Where current practices do not provide OSSTF/FEESO- represented custodial staff for community use events, and where policies and procedures allow, the funding will be used to provide OSSTF/FEESO custodial staffing to the extent of the available funds.
