Community Service Officers. 1. The Community Service Officer classification will be used in the Court Services Unit to assist Deputy Sheriffs in maintaining public security in the Superior Court and performing general administrative support functions, effective on the date the Salary Resolution, Table of Position changes are approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Community Service Officers. For a CSO vacancy, prior to forcing any on-duty CSO to work overtime, the on-duty supervisor shall fill the vacancy in the following manner: On-duty CSO by seniority Off-duty CSO by seniority In the event the overtime is unfilled, force back of on-duty personnel shall be by reverse seniority. Full-time Telecommunicators: For a T/C vacancy, prior to forcing any on-duty T/C, the on-duty supervisor shall fill the vacancy in the following manner: On-duty T/C by seniority Off-duty T/C by seniority On-duty qualified CSO by seniority Off-duty qualified CSO by seniority Any other qualified employee as determined by the Chief of Police or his designee pg. 21 In the event the overtime is unfilled, force back of qualified on-duty personnel shall be by reverse seniority. Anticipated Overtime: Anticipated overtime for Community Service Officers shall be scheduled based on seniority with full time employees first offered the overtime. Anticipated overtime for Telecommunicators shall be scheduled based on seniority with full time employees first offered the overtime. Part-time Community Service Officer and Telecommunicator Overtime must be approved in advance by the appropriate supervisor and shall be paid at the rate of one and one- half(1 –1/2) times the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay for hours actually worked in excess of forty(40) hours per week. Assigned hours not worked due to illness or leave without pay will not apply for purposes of calculating hours worked for overtime compensation.
Community Service Officers. While on duty, if a Community Service Officer (CSO) or other non-sworn employee is injured on District Property while providing immediate emergency assistance to a Sworn Officer who is engaged in a violent circumstance, of if a Fare Inspector or CSO assigned to proof of payment enforcement duties is the victim of a violent attack while performing proof of payment enforcement duties, the District will pay the difference between the employee’s Workers’ Compensation Benefit and employee’s straight time rate of pay for forty-five

Community Service Officers. 16.4 For purposes of this Article the following definitions shall apply:
Community Service Officers. While on duty, if a Community Service Officer (CSO) is injured on District Property while providing immediate emergency assistance to a Sworn Officer who is engaged in a violent circumstance and/or is the victim of a violent attack and who summons for assistance and/or is in need of assistance and cannot summon for assistance, the BPD will pay the difference between the CSO’s Workers’ Compensation Benefit and CSO’s basic straight time earnings for thirty (30) days after the first five (5) days of benefit that is provided under the District’s Workers’ Compensation policy. During this thirty (30) day period, the CSO is subject to any and all of the provisions of the District’s Workers’ Compensation Policy. Nothing in this paragraph is meant to alter the terms and conditions set forth in said policy and the CSO’s responsibility thereto. After the thirty (30) day period has expired, the provisions set forth in paragraph “A” of this Provision, shall be implemented for the remainder of the CSO’s Workers’ Compensation absence from the District, if such absence extends past the thirty (30) day period.
