Commitment to Continuous Improvement. (a) The Parties are committed to continuous improvement in the general building and construction industry and to the modernisation of the workplace. This includes the creation and adoption of policies that will provide better employment opportunities for women and mature age, Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander people, returned soldiers, and other groups that have been excluded from opportunities in this industry. The Parties are also committed to supporting initiatives that will improve sustainable development and productivity across the industry. In accordance with provisions in this Agreement, the Parties will also seek broader industry wide actions to eliminate the existence of sham contracting.

This Project provides an opportunity to be a “lighthouse” for the continuing modernisation of the workplace. In particular, the Parties are committed to supporting the following initiatives:
Commitment to Continuous Improvement. The intent of continuous improvement is to encourage employees to contribute their ideas on ways of improving the efficiency of the processes in which they are involved. All ideas should be given prompt evaluation and if they are of advantage to the organisation they should be implemented either immediately or as soon as practicable. It is agreed that employees will use their skills and expertise to suggest ways of improving manufacturing processes or the organisation of work focussing on specific changes that can be applied to manufacturing, storage, dispatch and information processes.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement. Reducing the climate impact of building materials will be a journey of continuous improvement. As new generations of low emissions building materials come to market, expectations of professional responsibility will increase. As such, all signatories should anticipate the requirements of the Responsible Buildings Pact to increase and expand over time to recognize evolving professional best practices. Any future changes will be implemented with the aim of increasing the overall carbon reduction impacts of the Pact and strengthening the Pacts integrity. Future changes will be designed to minimize unnecessary administrative burden and costs for signatories.
