Combination Jobs. When an employee during a working day is assigned work of two or more classifications, the applicable wage rate will be applied to the time spent on each classification, except that an employee who works more than one hour in a higher rated classification as a part of his/her daily work shall receive the higher rate for the entire day. The Company will not arbitrarily assign bargaining unit employees to combination jobs.
Combination Jobs. It is anticipated that the changing nature of the Employer's busi- ness will result in some job combinations. An employee may be required to work in more than one job classification within any work day. When such combination jobs are made, the Employer will pay the employee according to the following: when the employee is required to spend one hour or more of his work day upon a job providing a higher rate of pay, he shall receive the higher rate for the entire shift; for the full-time employee, the above mentioned period of one (1) hour shall be a two (2) hours or more period.

Employees who relieve other employees in a higher pay classification shall be paid the higher rate of pay provided the period of relief is for more than four (4) hours in any one workday. An employee so qualifying for pay in a higher classification shall be paid at the first-year rate or at the immediate step providing for an increase in such classification. The additional pay increase shall be pro-rated on an hourly basis.

Upon reaching the maximum wage levels, the composite rate will be determined using the following percentages of time in the higher-rated job: 0-24% goes to 25% of the higher rate. 25-49% goes to 50% of the higher rate. 50-74% goes to 75% of the higher rate. 75-100% goes to 100% of the higher rate. Primary job title reflects greatest percentage of time split for a combination job and is the determining factor for the occupational work group. Combination Jobs. 15.01. In order to encourage Host skill development in classifications throughout the operation of Marriott, and to satisfy customer needs, Marriott shall provide job training and certification. Marriott shall not require Hosts to be trained or certified in classifications outside the one in which they hold seniority. Hosts shall be hired, for seniority and pay purposes, into only one classification. Marriott agrees that Hosts performing two or more job classifications of work shall be paid at the rate of the highest job classification for actual hours worked in the classification, provided the job assignment lasts at least one continuous hour. This provision shall be subject to Article 16 and Article 8. Those days worked by Hosts outside of their classification shall be used towards maintaining or achieving full-time status and/or benefits as defined in this collective bargaining agreement. The intent of this provision is not to evade the hiring of a Host in classifications where Hosts are being used in a combination job capacity. Scheduling of Hosts certified in classifications other than the one in which they hold seniority will be done in accordance with business needs and under the terms of current scheduling provisions.
