Clauses 18. 14.1 and 18.14.2. will not apply if and to the extent that they are or would be unenforceable by reason of breach of (i) any provision of Council Regulation (EC) No 2271/96 of 22 November 1996 (or any law or regulation implementing such Regulation in any member state of the EEA) or (ii) any similar blocking or anti-boycott law in the United Kingdom or elsewhere. However, if the aforementioned Council Regulation purports to make compliance with any portion of this Clause unenforceable by the Issuer, the Issuer will nonetheless take such measures as may be necessary to ensure that the Issuer does not use the services or accounts in any manner which would cause the Agent to violate Sanctions applicable to the Agent.
