Every effort will be made to keep elementary classes in grades 4 and 5 at a reasonable level of twenty-six (26) students. Before students are enrolled in a class of twenty-six (26), the teacher will be notified and a meeting with the principal will be held to review the class size and to find resolution through consensus agreement. Middle school and high school class sizes will be averaged across every teacher’s schedule, with the average not to exceed twenty-eight (28) students. The average will be computed by dividing the total number of students enrolled with a teacher by the number of class sections taught by that teacher. (This language is based on a six (6) period day, with any single teacher’s maximum student case load not exceeding 168 students, excepting choir and band courses.) Every effort will be made to keep middle school and high school class sections at a reasonable level of twenty-eight (28) students.
