Class Assignments a. To allow for expansion of the faculty hiring pool and in order to forward the Strategic goals of the College, a defined number of sections shall be reserved for assignment within the division. The number of reserved sections for each division shall be determined by multiplying two (2) sections times the number of departments in the division. (The number of departments will be determined by the RIF units.) After regular full-time faculty assignments and, if requested, one (1) full-time faculty moonlight assignment are filled, Priority Associate faculty within a department will be assigned a minimum fifty percent (50%) load of classes they are qualified to teach but before associate assignments are made, with the exception of sections reserved by divisions that may be assigned to associates to expand the hiring pool.

Class Assignments. The Union President shall be given the opportunity to discuss teacher assignments before they are approved by the Superintendent. The assignment of all classes regardless of level shall be made in the best interest of students taking into consideration the following factors (listed in alphabetical order): Effect of extra-curricular assignments. Experience. Gender, including particularly the assignment to physical education classes. Number of preparations. Qualifications of the teachers, including degree(s), special expertise, and interest. Teacher request.

Class Assignments. Continuing part-time faculty will be assigned courses according to the following sequential criteria with the overall philosophies of providing quality instruction for students, of fairness for members of the bargaining unit, of fairness for other part-time faculty, and recognizing the need for flexibility within the parameters below.
Class Assignments. Teachers and Teacher Assistants may request in writing, no later than May 15th of each year, a particular class assignment for the following school year. The School shall make a good faith effort to accommodate the requests, provided the Employee is qualified for the requested position and the assignment is consistent with the School’s requirements.
Class Assignments. Priority in course assignments applies to members of the bargaining unit based on seniority level at the College. After loads of full time faculty members are set, the College shall attempt to make assignments to members of the bargaining unit to part-time faculty members who are fully qualified, who have had a continuing history of successful performance at the College and who are available to teach at times that are consistent with the College's scheduling. The department will assign courses to unit members within their department in order of seniority as defined in Article 6.1 and 6.3 of this Agreement. Nothing herein shall be construed or applied in such a way as to deprive the College of the right to disregard seniority in the assignment of courses in unusual circumstances or when a particular specialization or expertise is needed. The College shall provide to the Union President or designee an updated seniority list by department prior to the fall semester and the spring semester each year. Based on the above criteria, the College shall make course assignment offerings to Adjunct Faculty members who are available to teach at the times the course selections are offered. Retired full-time faculty with appropriate qualifications and experience will be granted priority assignments. Bargaining Unit members who have developed on-line and hybrid courses shall be given priority to teach those courses before any other faculty member regardless of that faculty member's status or seniority. Other faculty may teach additional sections but have no intellectual property rights to the course being taught. Other faculty cannot bump the original developer unless the course interferes with a full time faculty making load and all other options have been exhausted. Course assignments for each semester, including summer, will be made by the College according to the following process:
Class Assignments. A. Teachers in Grades 7 through 12 will be limited to five (5) class periods of instruction per school day. In addition, such teachers shall not be assigned to more than one (1) supervisory period (study hall, lunch duty, hall monitoring) per day. Supervisory assignments (hall duty, homeroom and bus duty) may be made during the fifteen (15) minutes prior to the starting of the high school class day and six (6) minutes at the close of the class day. Those assigned bus duty will not be given a morning assignment. All assignments will be made in a fair and equitable manner.

Class Assignments. Following the determination of load and overload for full-time faculty and administrative staff, adjunct faculty shall have the opportunity to preview the schedule of available courses and submit to the division chair a request for classes prior to the established deadline. The division chairs, assuming such requests comport with scheduling needs, shall attempt to honor requests and preferences for adjunct faculty members who have previously and successfully taught courses when making class assignments. After class assignments are made by the division chair and confirmed by the office of Human Resources, no adjunct faculty bargaining unit member may be bumped from his/her assignment unless the class is cancelled or if a full- time faculty member or administrator needs that class in order to have a base load. After assignment of full-time faculty members, continuing adjunct faculty shall be notified in writing or by electronic communication of their tentative assignments for any given academic term.
Class Assignments. The College acknowledges that a reasonable effort should be made to assure the assignment of courses to Adjunct Faculty Members who are qualified, who have had a continuing history of successful performance at the College, and who are available to teach at times that are consistent with the College’s scheduling. The College shall make offers of assignment to Adjunct Faculty Members who are qualified to teach available course sections and are available to teach at the times the course sections are offered as set forth below. For classes for credit that are being offered, the offers of assignment shall be made at least five (5) business days prior to the start of class. This timeline does not apply to non-credit classes and/or for credit classes on hold. For Adjunct Faculty Members who receive for credit class assignments but who do not receive their for-credit class assignments within this timeline shall be compensated one-hundred-fifty dollars ($150.00), provided the assignment was not previously a class on hold. Assignments of at least six (6) equivalent credit hours will be given, by the College, for the Fall and Spring Semesters to Adjunct Faculty Members who have requested an assignment of six (6) or more hours before offering assignments to new part-time faculty hires with equal or lesser qualifications to teach. Adjunct Faculty Members requesting an assignment of six (6) credit hours shall receive this assignment before any Adjunct Faculty Member receives additional credit hours. If an assignment of six (6) credit hours cannot be provided to all Adjunct Faculty Members who request them, the most senior, qualified faculty who are available to teach at the times the courses meet will be given first priority. Class assignment changes made to Adjunct Faculty Members shall be updated by the resending of an updated questionnaire and acceptance of those changes by the Adjunct Faculty Member back to the appropriate Xxxx.
Class Assignments. Teachers will be notified in their individual employment contracts of their specific grade(s) and/or subject assignment(s) as well as starting and dismissal times for the next school year. In the event there are changes in the grade(s) or subject assignment(s) after individual employment contracts are issued, the teacher affected will be first notified in person and then in writing prior to any general announcement to the school staff. The teacher affected by the change may request, and will be granted a meeting with the Building Administrator and/or the Superintendent to discuss the proposed changes before they go into effect. The teacher may be accompanied by an Association representative to the meeting(s).
