Common use of Chief Stewards Clause in Contracts

Chief Stewards. The employer shall recognize three (3) Chief Stewards, one for each geographical area as appointed by the local Union President. Requests for the Chief Xxxxxxx to meet with employees during the working day shall be approved by the Director of Employee Relations or his/her designee and such requests shall not be unreasonably denied and shall not exceed eight (8) hours per month except in cases of emergency. Employees selected by the Union to act as Union representatives shall be known as "Chief Stewards". The names of employees selected as chief stewards and the names of other Union representatives who may represent employees shall be certified in writing to the Employer by the local Union. If the need arises, the Director of Employee Relations may meet with one (1) or more of the three (3) chief stewards.
