Common use of Chief of Police Clause in Contracts

Chief of Police. If the grievance is not resolved at Step 1, the employee shall have the right to appeal in writing, within five (5) days after receipt of the Division Commander’s written answer to the grievance to the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall issue a decision or schedule a meeting within three (3) days of the filing of the grievance at Step 2 to discuss the matter with the employee and Union representative. If a meeting is held, the Chief of Police shall provide a written answer to the employee with a copy to the Union within three (3) days of the meeting. If the employee does not invoke Step 3 of this procedure within five (5) working days after the answer of the Chief of Police, said grievance shall be considered satisfactorily resolved.
