Charge Nurse. A charge nurse is an experienced nurse who is assigned the responsibility for the nursing activity and patient care on a single nursing unit for one (1) or more shifts. Nurses assigned charge responsibilities will have these additional responsibilities considered in their direct patient care assignments.
Charge Nurse. A Registered Nurse 2 (staff nurse) who is assigned responsibility for an organized unit for a period of four (4) or more hours. Charge nurse responsibility shall not overlap on the same shift. "Organized unit" shall be defined by the Employer. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, all nurses shall be eligible to apply for training as charge nurse. If a nurse is not accepted into training, the nurse will receive an explanation. Management will make a good faith effort not to assign charge duty to a float nurse. Nurses regularly assigned to a specific unit and who are qualified to act in charge will be placed in charge before a nurse floated to that unit is placed in charge. On all units, the charge nurse will use her/his professional judgment when it is necessary to take patients, based on patient needs and nurse competency. Nurses floating to a unit shall then be assigned charge only by mutual consent. It is within the role of the Charge nurse to determine the need for additional staff based on a thorough assessment of patient needs, unit activity, and available resources and to make the appropriate recommendation to the staffing office/manager.
Charge Nurse. A per diem Registered Nurse 2 who is assigned responsibility for an organized unit for a period of four (4) or more hours. Charge nurse responsibility shall not overlap on the same shift. "Organized unit" shall be defined by the Employer. Nurses shall be eligible to apply for training as charge nurse. Nurses regularly assigned to a specific unit and who are qualified to act in charge will be placed in charge before a per diem nurse. It is within the role of the Charge nurse to determine the need for additional staff based on a thorough assessment of patient needs, unit activity, and available resources and to make the appropriate recommendation to the staffing office/manager.
Charge Nurse. A Nurse who has applied for and been awarded a position to assist and coordinate in the continuity of patient care responsibilities and clinical activities of an organized nursing unit, in addition to being responsible for the direct or indirect total care of patients as part of his/her normal assigned duties.
Charge Nurse. A staff nurse functioning in a leadership role, providing direction and coordination of personnel. A charge nurse is a primary resource person, knowledgeable of the policies and procedures in the unit and assists staff. The charge nurse job description does not confer supervisory status.
Charge Nurse. A staff nurse who serves a leadership or resource function in 18 the unit.
Charge Nurse. A charge differential in the amount of $3.50 per hour ($3.75 per hour effective the first full pay period following July 1, 2022) shall be paid to a nurse who has been assigned charge duties by the Employer for at least two (2) consecutive hours. When charge duty occurs on a holiday worked, the charge differential shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1½ x).
Charge Nurse. A registered nurse who is assigned by the Employer the responsibility for an organized unit. The definition of an “organized unit” shall be defined by the Employer. A charge nurse shall use their professional judgment to recognize when it is appropriate or necessary to take on patients, based on patient needs and nurse competency, subject to review and modification by the unit manager.
Charge Nurse. Any nurse assigned as a Charge Nurse, including Charge Nurse, Clinical Advisor, House Clinical Advisor and RN Facilitator (as defined in Article 4.3) shall receive a premium of Two Dollars and Seventy-five Cents ($2.75) per hour.
Charge Nurse. A registered nurse who is assigned the responsibility for a patient care unit and who functions within specific written guidelines. Nurses assigned charge responsibilities will have these additional responsibilities determined on a shift-to-shift basis when developing their patient care assignment. Charge nurses will not be consistently expected to carry a full patient care assignment. Charge nurse assignments will be designated as determined by management to qualified staff who have volunteered for this assignment and received appropriate orientation. A nurse must provide notice of his/her decision to no longer volunteer for the charge assignment. The nurse must provide notice to his/her manager at least 14 days prior to the posting of the next schedule (as required by Article 6.5). The Medical Center, in collaboration with the members of the Conference Committee, will develop and follow a written process to identify who will be selected to serve as the charge nurse if there are no volunteers for the charge assignment for a shift on a unit.
