Career Development Leave With Pay. (a) Career development is a form of training which the Employer considers will benefit both the individual employee and the organization, such as: courses given by the Employer; courses offered by a recognized academic institution; a seminar, convention or study session in a specialised field directly related to the employee’s work. The following activities shall be deemed to be part of career development: A course or program offered by a recognized academic institution. A course or program offered by a recognized accounting association or body. Upon written application by the employee, and with the approval of CANADA, career development leave with pay may be given for any one of the activities described in sub-clause (a) above. The employee shall receive no compensation under the Overtime and Travelling Time provisions of this Collective Agreement during time spent on career development leave provided for in this article.   • Career Development Leave (a) Career development refers to an activity which, in the opinion of the Employer, is likely to be of assistance to the individual in furthering his or her career development and to the organization in achieving its goals. The following activities shall be deemed to be part of career development:

  • Staff Development Leave (a) An employee shall be granted leave without loss of pay, at her basic rate of pay, to take courses (including related examinations), conferences, conventions, seminars, workshops, symposiums or similar out-of-service programs, at the request of the Employer. The amount of pay received by an employee shall not exceed the full-time daily hours of work as outlined in Article 14.2. When such leave is granted, the Employer shall bear the full cost, including tuition fees, entrance or registration fees, laboratory fees, and course-related books. The Employer shall also reimburse the employee for approved travelling, subsistence, and other legitimate, applicable expenses.

  • Court Leave With Pay Leave with pay shall be given to every employee, other than an employee already on leave without pay, on education leave, or under suspension who is required:

  • Personnel Selection Leave With Pay Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process, including the appeal process where applicable, for a position in the Public Service or in the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, as defined in the Public Service Labour Relations Act, the employee is entitled to leave with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Employer considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his presence is so required.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this clause, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law spouse resident with the employee), child (including child of common-law spouse), stepchild or xxxx of the employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Career Development The City and the Union agree that employee career growth can be beneficial to both the City and the affected employee. As such, consistent with training needs identified by the City and the financial resources appropriated therefore by the City, the City shall provide educational and training opportunities for employee career growth. Each employee shall be responsible for utilizing those training and educational opportunities made available by the City or other institutions for the self- development effort needed to achieve personal career goals.

  • Leave With Pay Compassionate leave of absence with pay shall be granted for three (3) work days. Up to two (2) additional days with pay shall be granted for travelling time when this is warranted in the judgement of the Employer.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY 14.01 The vacation year shall be from April 1st of one calendar year to March 31st of the following calendar year inclusive.

  • Marriage Leave With Pay (a) After the completion of one (l) year's continuous employment, and providing an employee gives NAV CANADA at least fifteen (15) days' notice, the employee shall be granted five (5) days' marriage leave with pay for the purpose of getting married.
