Canine Officer Pay. Any officer assigned as a canine officer shall receive, in addition to any other monies to which he/she is entitled under this agreement, one hour of overtime pay for each day he/she is responsible for caring/feeding/training of the animal. Alternatively, the University may shorten a canine officer's shift by one hour in order to avoid the payment of overtime on days that a canine officer is regularly scheduled to work. This provision is effective the date a canine officer is given sole control of his/her animal.
Canine Officer Pay. Any assignments as Canine Officer shall be made by the Chief of Police. Any Police Unit employee assigned as a Canine Officer may be removed from the assignment and assignment pay discontinued, at any time, at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police. Employees assigned as a Canine Officer shall receive compensation in the amount of $589 monthly for the time needed to feed, groom, exercise, train, bathe, obtain routine veterinary care, and otherwise care for the employee’s assigned dog. This monthly compensation is based upon an agreed number of hours and hourly rate, and is computed as follows: 10 hours per week multiplied by $9.06 per hour at time and one half this Canine rate of pay which equals $13.59, multiplied by 52 weeks, then divided by 12 months, resulting in compensation of $589 per month. With appropriate justification and prior approval, the City agrees to separately and additionally compensate a Canine Officer for visits to the veterinarian beyond routine care, such as a significant illness or injury that are handled outside of the Canine Officer’s regular work hours, at the rate of one and one-half times the Canine Officer’s regular rate of pay for the actual number of hours spent in such activities. The parties agree that payment in accordance with this Section shall satisfy all City FLSA obligations with respect to the care, maintenance, and training of police service dogs. The City is not required to maintain a minimum number of Canine Officers in the Department. The City shall have the discretion to determine whether to reduce the staffing levels of the canine program and if it does reduce the staffing, the Officers removed from the program will not have the right to appeal the decision to remove them.
Canine Officer Pay. The City agrees to compensate EMPLOYEES actively participating in the department canine program at the rate of three (3) hours of straight time weekly. The EMPLOYEE may select either cash or compensatory time. Review shall be made by the Operations Captain's or designee's signature on a regular overtime slip and submitted with the department payroll.
Canine Officer Pay. Effective May 1, 2011, Officers assigned to the position of Canine Officer, while so assigned, shall receive (in addition to his regular pay for the corresponding contract year) a one-time annual additional amount pay, based on an annual amount (listed below) that will be paid on a quarterly basis, and paid as an “adjustment to gross pay” as follows: 2008 $2,000.00 2011 $6000.00 2009 $2,500.00 2012 $6000.00 2010 $3,000.00 2013 $6000.00 The Canine Officer Canine Officer(s) shall not be responsible for out-of-pocket costs affiliated with care, equipment and feeding of the dog. The Canine Officer shall also not be responsible for the cost of kenneling the dog when the Officer is out of town utilizing paid time off, or unable to care for the dog. The City will not continue to pay for vet bills, dog food, or any other expense after the dog has retired or has separated from regular work duties for the City of Xxxxxxxx
