Cancer Screening. Effective upon City Council funding, as of June 7, 2017, all employees covered by this Agreement shall be permitted to use up to one (1) day of paid time, per calendar year, for cancer screening to run concurrent with leave permitted by the City’s Cancer Screening Policy. This leave will not be charged to any accrued leave. Leave may be used in half day increments. The screenings covered are: Breast, Colon, Skin, Thyroid, Oral Cavity, Lymph Nodes, Reproductive Organs and Lungs. Employees must have their health care provider complete the City’s Certification Form when administering the screening and employees must submit the completed form to their Department’s Personnel Officer for the benefit to be applied. Employees must comply with all notice and documentation requirements contained in the City of Boston Policy.

Cancer Screening. The parties to this agreement recognise the value of early detection in reducing special dangers from cervical; breast; testicular; prostrate and other cancers and are committed to encouraging employees in the industry to undergo screening at the recommended frequency. It is recommended that on- site screening facilities be provided where justified by the number of employees. Where this is not possible, however, individuals will need to make their own arrangements for cancer screening, and provided mutually acceptable arrangements are made, taking account of company shift patterns, and where applicable, and evidence of attendance given, employees shall receive reasonable time-off with pay for this purpose.

Cancer Screening. Effective July 1, 2018, any leave taken by a member of the unit pursuant to Section 159-b of the Civil Service Law shall, to the extent required by law, be paid leave and shall not be charged to the employee’s accrued leave time (e.g., sick leave, personal leave, vacation). Employees shall use every reasonable effort to schedule such screening outside of regular work hours. Employees who take a leave of absence pursuant to Section 159-b of the Civil Service Law, as applicable, shall provide at least seventy-two (72) hours written notice of the need for such leave. Upon their return to work, the employee shall provide the District with a note from a medical professional verifying the date and time of their screening and that they received screening for breast and/or prostate cancer. Failure to do so shall result in such leave being unpaid.
