CAMERA ALLOWANCE. This letter confirms our discussions regarding the practice and payment of camera allowance to employees who use their own cameras and equipment. Although the company supplies digital cameras and ancillary equipment, we acknowledge that with the reduction in cost of digital cameras, some photographers may wish to purchase their own equipment. Where a photographer desires to purchase and use their own equipment, prior approval must be sought from the Publisher and Editor. Upon such approval, camera allowance shall be paid as follows: The allowance will be calculated annually, paid monthly and will be equal to 12% of the agreed upon value of the equipment to a maximum value of $15,000. The past practice shall continue with respect to the equipment required and its replacement value. In addition to paying for the cost of annual servicing, the company will pay for repairs (not covered by insurance) if equipment is damaged while being used on company business.
