Bricks. The contractor should use the bricks manufactured on the metric system, as for as possible.
Bricks. Bricks shall uniform colour, thoroughly burnt but not over burnt, shall have plan rectangular faces with parallel sides and sharp right-angled edges. They should give ringing sound when struck. Brick shall not absorb more than 20% to 22% of water, when immersed in water for 24 hours. Bricks to be used shall be approved by the Independent Engineer.
Bricks. Bricks shall be sound, hard, well-burnt, uniform in size, shape and colour, homogeneous in texture, giving a metallic ringing sound, free from flaws, cracks, holes, lumps or grit and arises should be square, straight and sharply defined. They shall not break when struck against each other and dropped flat from a height of 1m to the ground. They shall conform to IS 1077 giving classes of common burntclay bricks. Maximum absorption shall not be more than 20% of its dry weight on immersion in water for 24 hours. Minimum crushing strength shall be 75 kg/sq cm. Bricks for masonry work in foundations as well as in superstructure shall be first class burnt clay bricks conforming to PWD Specifications.
Bricks. A) All bricks shall be of 75 class designation quality locally available as approved by the Site Engineer.
Bricks. The bricks shall be class designation – 50, kiln-burnt bricks of regular and uniform size, shape and colour, well burnt throughout. They shall be free from cracks or other flaws viz. lumps of lime, laminations, soluble salts causing efflorescence, air-holes which may in any way impair their strength durability, appearance etc. They shall give a clear metallic ringing sound when struck together. After absorbing water the bricks shall not exceed 16% of their dry weight as per IS:No. 1077- 19970. According to IS:No. 1077-1970 crushing load shall not be less than 50 Kg./Sqcm. The brick to be used for the entire work shall be approved by the Engineer-in- Charge (EIC).
Bricks o The brick shall be generally conforming to I.S. 1077 first class kiln burnt bricks of regular and uniform size, shape and color, uniformly well burnt throughout but not over burnt. They shall have rectangular faces with parallel sides and sharp, straight and right angled edges. They shall be free from cracks or other flaws. They shall have frog of 10mm depth on one of their flat faces. Where first class bricks are not manufactured locally or nearby areas, best locally available bricks may be used having strength not less than that specified for the job by the Employer/Architects. o They shall give a clear metallic ringing sound when struck together. o They shall show a fine grained, uniform homogenous and dense texture on fracture and be free from lumps of lime laminations cracks, air holes, soluble salts causing efflorescence or other defects which may in any way impair their strength, durability, appearance, and usefulness for the purpose intended. They shall not have any part under-burnt. They shall not break when thrown on the ground on their flat face in a sutured condition from a height of 60cm. o The size of brick shall be 230mm x 115mm x 75mm or near about. Only bricks of one standard size shall be used on one work unless specially permitted by the Employer/Architects. The following tolerance are permitted in the standard conventional size adopted on a particular work: Lengths - Plus or Minus (about 3mm) Breadth - Plus or Minus (about 1.5mm) Depth - Plus or Minus (about 1.5mm) o After immersion in water, absorption by weight shall not exceed 20 percent of the dry weight of the brick when tested according to I.S. 1077. Unless otherwise specified the load to crush the brick when tested according to I.S. 1977 shall not be less than 75 kg/xx.xx. o The source, size and brand or the brick to be used for the entire work shall be approved by the Employer/Architects before hand from time to time.
Bricks. Notwithstanding the requirements of Subclause 3.11.1 of SANS 1200L, 230 mm wide hollow concrete blocks with minimum compressive strength 3,5 MPa and filled with Grade 15 MPa mass concrete, will be accepted for valve chamber walls.
Bricks. The bricks shall be 1st class bricks and of uniform size (9" x 4 1/2" x 3"). Alternatively bricks as per IS: 1077-1976, clause 5.1, the standard size of which is (19 cm x 9 cm x 9 cm), and which shall be table moulded from approved kilns of quality approved by the Engineer-in-charge, shall be used. It shall be well evenly burnt for getting brick which are sound, hard and with sharp edges and corners, and which shall give a ringing sound when struck with a metal. It shall be free from the grit and other impurities such as lime, iron and deleterious salts. No brick with 24 hours of immersion in water shall absorb more than 20% of its weight. Common buildings bricks shall have compressive strength of 50 Kg./Sq. Cms., unless otherwise specially permitted.
Bricks. Specifications of brickwork shall apply. Broken bricks shall not be used except for closing the line. The bricks shall be laid on edge.
Bricks. 1.6.2.1. Bricks shall be stacked in regular tiers as and when they are unloaded to minimize breakage and defacement. These shall not be dumped at site.
