Breaks and Lunches. Employees shall receive duty free rest periods daily which insofar as practicable shall be in the middle of each work period. No wage deduction shall be made for such rest periods. Rest periods for employees working an eight (8) hour shift shall be computed on the basis of fifteen (15) minutes during each half (1/2) of their work shift. Breaks and Lunches. Customer Service office employees’ normal lunch break shall begin either at 12:00 noon or 1:00 p.m. All other employees normal lunch break shall begin at 12:00 noon. The above times may be altered at the sole discretion of Management, up to thirty (30) minutes before or after the start of the normal lunch break. Where the work requires and as authorized by Management, an allowance of ten dollars ($10.00) will be paid to each employee required to remain at the work site during the normal lunch break. The shop helper when doing duties formerly performed by the janitor from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. shall receive a half hour paid lunch break within his/her eight hour shift. When an individual who was not a member of the bargaining unit as of August 19, 1985 fills the classification they and their successors will receive a half hour unpaid lunch break. Attendants on the 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., afternoon and night shift shall be allowed a half hour paid lunch break during their eight hour shift.

Breaks and Lunches. It is the College’s obligation to provide reasonable breaks and lunch periods as required by law. If an employee is unable to take a lunch they should notify their supervisor and/or Human Resources of the concern as soon as possible so that proper workloads can be addressed.

Breaks and Lunches. A thirty (30) minute duty free and unpaid lunch is required for any educational support professional working more than four (4) hours in any one day. One (1) fifteen (15) minute paid break shall be given to educational support professionals working three to six hours per day. Educational support professionals working six to eight hours per day shall receive two (2) fifteen (15) minute paid breaks. Education support professionals shall work with the classroom teacher to schedule time away from the classroom based on their assigned student’s needs. Issues with not receiving daily lunches and breaks should be brought to the attention of administration. They may also elect to work a paid lunch duty during their lunch period.
