Block Shifts. Any absence that is expected to last fourteen (14) days or more shall be filled by casual Part Time staff as equitably as possible in a minimum of two (2) week blocks. A separate rotational list of Casual Part-Time employees will be used for filling these blocks. The rate for Casual Part-Time employees filling a position under this Clause shall be one hundred percent (100%) of the job rate of the permanent position to which their Casual Part-Time place on the grid corresponds. Such vacancies shall be filled by Casual Part-Time staff when an employee is absent due to an unpaid leave of absence, Short or Long-Term Disability, Workersí Safety and Insurance Board, or any other unpaid absence.

Block Shifts. Four or more consecutive shifts covering the absence of a single employee is considered to be a block shift. A part-time employee who has submitted availability but is already scheduled to work for part of the block will be offered the full block. If the part-time employee accepts the block their regularly scheduled shifts during the block will be offered to casual employees in order of seniority. No other schedule changes will be permitted.
Block Shifts. (1) A block of shifts is available when it is known in advance that more than four consecutive shifts will be available to cover an absence in one position.

  • Hour Shifts When the Employer deems it necessary to implement a twelve (12) hour work day, affected employees shall be notified pursuant to Clause 14.05. The following Clauses shall be replaced or added to the Collective Agreement where appropriate.

  • Additional Shifts 32.1 The Employer is committed to maximising its permanent workforce in line with its occupancy levels. The Employer will always offer additional shifts in the first instance to its permanent part-time staff where practicable. It will then offer additional shifts to its casual or bank staff, where applicable.

  • Broken Shifts (a) An employee may agree to work broken shifts at any time; however an employee may be required to work broken shifts in the following circumstances:

  • Rotating Shifts Nurses required to work rotating shifts (days, evenings and nights) shall be scheduled in such a way as to equitably as possible assign the rotation. This does not preclude a Nurse from being continuously assigned to an evening or night shift if the Nurse and the Employer mutually agree to such an arrangement.

  • Twelve Hour Shifts Employees shall be entitled, subject to exigencies of patient care and/or departmental requirements, to rest periods during the shift of a total of forty-five (45) minutes.

  • Split Shifts No shift shall be split for a period longer than the regularly scheduled meal and rest periods as provided for in Article 14.08.

  • Extra Shifts Where an employee agrees to work or is required by the Employer to work a shift(s) or portion thereof, in excess of the employee’s scheduled work week, the employee will receive pay at the rate of one and one‐half (1½) times the employee’s regular hourly rate for such excess hours worked, with a minimum of three (3) hours at the rate of one and one‐half (1½) times the employee’s regular rate of pay.
