Bilingual Pay for Services Requested. An employee who has taken and passed a bilingual proficiency test coordinated by the County Human Resource Services Department and administered by a person who has been certified as bilingually proficient (including sign language for the deaf) shall be compensated an additional $40.00 in any pay period in which the individual is directed by the Sheriff to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee’s assignment. The bilingual proficiency test and the County’s determination as to an individual’s bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.
Bilingual Pay for Services Requested. A person who has passed the bilingual proficiency test coordinated by County HRS and is directed by the Fire Chief, or their designee, to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee’s assignment, shall be compensated an additional forty dollars ($40.00) for the pay period they are required to utilize such skills. The bilingual proficiency test and County HRS’ determination as to an individual’s bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.

An employee who has taken and passed a bilingual proficiency test coordinated by the County Personnel Department and administered by a person who has been certified as bilingually proficient (including sign language for the deaf) shall be compensated an additional $30.00 in any pay period in which the employee is directed by the Agency/Department Head to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee's assignment. The bilingual proficiency test and the County's determination as to an employee's bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure. Effective June 14, 2009, this compensation shall be increased to $40 per pay period.
Bilingual Pay for Services Requested. An employee who has taken and passed a bilingual proficiency test coordinated by the County Human Resource Services Department and administered by a person who has been certified as bilingually proficient (including sign language for the deaf) shall be compensated an additional $30 in any pay period in which the individual is directed by the Agency/Department Head or his/her designee to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee’s assignment. The bilingual proficiency test and the County’s determination as to an individual’s bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure. Compensation provided by this section shall be $35 per pay period. Effective two pay periods following adoption of the MOU by the Board of Supervisors, compensation provided by this section shall be $40 per pay period.

An employee who has taken and passed a bilingual proficiency test coordinated by Human Resources Services and administered by a person who has been certified as bilingually proficient (including sign language for the deaf) shall be compensated forty dollars ($40) in any pay period in which the employee is directed by the Agency/Department Head to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee’s assignment. Effective June 28, 2020, the premium compensation described herein shall be increased to fifty-five dollars ($55) per pay period. The bilingual proficiency test and the County’s determination as to an employee’s bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.

An employee who has taken and passed a bilingual proficiency test coordinated by the AHS Human Resources Department and administered by a person who has been certified as bilingual proficient (including sign language for the deaf) shall be compensated $30.00 in any pay period in which the employee is directed by the Department Head to use and uses the bilingual skills in the course of the employee's assignment. The bilingual proficiency test and AHS's determination as to an employee's bilingual competency shall not be subject to the grievance procedure. Employees who are currently receiving bilingual pay under paragraph A of this section because they occupy a designated bilingual position are not eligible for compensation under this paragraph.
