Common use of Bereavement Days Clause in Contracts

Bereavement Days. Section 1. In the event of the death in the immediate family, a Bargaining Unit employee will be granted a four (4) day leave of absence with pay to be charged against his accumulated paid sick leave, or without pay if no accumulated sick leave is available. For such purpose, the immediate family shall be considered to be a father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, legal guardian, or a person who stands in a special filial relationship.
