Benefits While on Leave Without Pay. Employees who are on an authorized leave of absence without pay, will be allowed, on request, to pay the fringe benefits as provided in this Agreement within the policies and regulations governing said benefits.

Benefits While on Leave Without Pay. The employee may have the option to maintain the Employee Health Benefits provided for in Article 20 (Employee Health Benefits) while absent on approved leave. The employee will pay the Employer, in advance, quarterly or through an agreed upon payment schedule, one hundred percent (100%) of the premium cost involved to maintain their employee benefits by way of post dated cheques. If a cheque is returned Not Sufficient Funds, benefits will cease. The Employer’s share of pension contributions shall cease during the employee’s leave. The Employer will not provide sick leave benefits, holiday pay nor will the employee accumulate vacation leave credits or seniority during the leave period. The employee will not pay union dues to CUPE Local 2440 during the leave without pay. Where an employee requests an early return from an unpaid leave as provided for in this Article, the Employer shall not be obligated to re-engage where replacement staffing commitments have already been made.

  • Education Leave Without Pay I. The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.

  • Maternity Leave Without Pay (a) An employee who becomes pregnant shall, upon request, be granted maternity leave without pay for a period beginning before, on or after the termination date of pregnancy and ending not later than eighteen (18) weeks after the termination date of pregnancy.

  • Other Leave Without Pay At its discretion, the Employer may grant leave without pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement, including enrolment in the Canadian Armed Forces and election to a full-time municipal office.
