BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. 12.1 The basic 40 hour workweek for bargaining unit members covered by this Agreement shall consist of forty (40) hours per week, starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and ending at 12:00 midnight Friday, unless otherwise specified or scheduled by the Sheriff or his designee, and as further defined herein.

BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. SECTION 1. Departmental Management will establish the basic workweek and hours of work best suited to meet the needs of the department and provide superior service to the community.
BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. Section 1. With the exception of continuous operations and refuse collection activities, the normal workweek shall consist of five (5) consecutive eight (8) hour workdays and forty (40) hours per week which may be interrupted by an unpaid lunch period. The normal workweek shall consist of forty (40) hours, however the parties, by mutual agreement, may agree to work schedules in specific work units that may vary from the normal five (5) consecutive day, eight (8) hours per day workweek. The normal workweek for employees covered by this Agreement who are in a continuous operation shall consist of eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week. It is understood that in continuous operations the workweek shall not necessarily consist of five (5) consecutive workdays. For purposes of this Agreement, continuous operation is any division which operates on a seven (7) day a week, twenty-four (24) hour basis. If the City desires to change the normal workweek, it shall provide written notice to the union of its intent. Upon receipt of the notice, the union shall have five (5) calendar days within which to request bargaining. If bargaining is requested, the parties agree to bargain over the City’s proposed change for a period of no more than thirty (30) calendar days from the date of the request. If an impasse is reached, the City may implement the change within ten (10) calendar days. However, such change shall be subject to the results of the impasse resolution procedure. If no timely request for bargaining is made by the union, the City may implement the change no earlier than thirty (30) calendar days from the date of its notice. Employees may elect to work hours, days, and workweeks pursuant to the provisions of the City’s Flexible Working Arrangement initiative in accordance with its terms.
BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. Section 1 Employees will continue to be paid in accordance with the current pay cycle. Employees will be paid overtime in accord with the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended, or as otherwise provided in this Agreement. Authorized PBA time pool, taken during the member’s regularly scheduled work hours, shall be considered time worked. Section 2 Compensatory time is time earned at the same rate the employee would receive if he/she were being paid i.e., if pay would be at the overtime rate then compensatory time is accrued at time and one half time; if pay would be straight time then compensatory time, in lieu of pay, is accrued at straight time. The choice of compensatory time or overtime pay shall be at the bargaining unit member’s option. Accrued unused compensatory time off may not exceed one hundred and eighty (180) converted hours. Upon separation from Xxxxxx County Sheriff’s Office, the bargaining unit member shall be paid for all approved accrued, unused compensatory time at the bargaining unit member’s then existing rate. Once the one hundred and eighty (180) converted hours compensatory time maximum accrual has been reached, bargaining unit members required to work overtime shall be paid overtime at the rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay. Time worked outside of an employee’s regular Division cannot be earned as compensatory time, unless otherwise approved by his/her Division Director. (Holiday pay worked can be converted to compensatory time). Section 3 Bargaining unit members may be required to work overtime both scheduled and unscheduled. To the extent reasonable and appropriate, under the circumstances as determined by the Sheriff or his designee, overtime will be distributed equitably among bargaining unit members in their particular job classification in organizational units, as work permits.
BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. Section 1 Bargaining unit members assigned to 12-hour shifts shall work a FLSA, 207(k) 7- day work period, which begins on each Sunday and ends the following Saturday. Though the overtime threshold is 43 hours, both parties contractually agree that all bargaining unit personnel assigned to 12-hour shifts shall receive overtime in accordance with the following: • For “long weeks”, overtime shall be paid for all hours in excess of 43 hours in a 7-day work period • For “short weeks”, overtime shall be paid for all hours in excess of 37 hours in a 7-day work period A “long week” is defined as a 7-day work period in which a bargaining unit member has 4 regularly scheduled 12-hour shifts. A “short week” is a 7-day work period in which a bargaining unit member has 3 regularly scheduled 12-hour shifts. For the purposes of calculating overtime, bargaining unit members that are assigned to 8 or 10-hour shifts will be paid overtime for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a 7-day work period. Authorized PBA time pool, taken during the member’s regularly scheduled work hours, shall be considered time worked.
