BANKING LEAVE. Full-time contract faculty may request a leave of absence based on participation in the Banking Leave program. Full-time faculty may request to be allowed to work beyond contract for the purpose of participating in the Banking Leave program. Banking will be an option available to full-time faculty of the district in lieu of payment. When a full-time faculty member works beyond his/her regular contract or in a summer/intersession assignment, he/she can choose either to bank the extra LHE/hours or to be paid for them at the current part-time salary rate. Continuing education faculty may be granted Banking leave on the basis of teaching hours per week. Banked LHE/hours may be utilized to release the faculty member from a portion of his/her contractual obligation and may be used for professional or personal reasons. If a replacement is necessary, the assignment must be one that is replaceable by part-time staff. A faculty member may not accumulate more than thirty-six (36) LHE/hours of banking leave. The maximum duration of a full- time release will be one semester, unless the faculty member has a medical condition or family situation that requires a leave of greater than one semester, or the faculty member submits written notice to the district that he/she will retire at the end of the banking leave in which case a leave of two consecutive semesters may be granted. A one semester banking leave shall consist of fifteen (15) LHE at contract pay, plus up to six (6) LHE at beyond contract pay. The accumulated banked LHE/hours and the resulting time off have no effect on fringe benefits. Banking leave shall count toward retirement and be considered as regular service to the District for purposes of advancement on the salary schedule. There is no expressed or implied guarantee that extra pay classes are available for "banking" in any given semester. Only upon the retirement, resignation, or death of a faculty member, shall the cash value of any unused banking leave be paid to the faculty member or his/her estate. Any such payment shall be at the part-time/beyond contract rate in effect on the date of retirement, resignation, or death. No later than October 1 of each year, the District shall provide each faculty member with a statement of the faculty member’s banking leave balance as of the prior June 30. BANKING LEAVE. Employees can choose to bank their LSL if it was accrued on 1 January 2009 under the transitional arrangements or LSL granted for periods of more than 30 years’ service.
BANKING LEAVE. 16.N.1. Definition: When a full-time professor works beyond their regular contract, they can choose either to bank the extra LHE (Lecture Hour Equivalent) or to be paid for it at the current Faculty Overload salary rate as per Appendix C. This applies to regular credit overload classes and assignments beyond 30 LHE that are an extension of a regular assignment. Classes taught during the summer/winter intersession may also be banked. Depending on the number of LHE banked, the time off could be one class, but cannot exceed one year. The ratio of banked time to leave time is 1:1. For example, fifteen lecture hours must be banked to take leave from a regular semester load of fifteen lecture hours.

  • Taking Leave An Employee may take leave to deal with family and domestic violence in accordance with clause 48.3 if the Employee:

  • CHILD BONDING LEAVE A prospective father, spouse, domestic partner or adoptive parent is entitled to child bonding leave of up to six (6) months. Child bonding leave must be taken within one (1) year of the qualifying event. Child bonding leave runs concurrent with FMLA/CFRA. The scheduling of child bonding leave (either on FMLA or CFRA) on an intermittent basis and/or requests for a reduced work schedule are subject to mutual agreement by the employee and the Agency/Department Head as allowed by law. Such an employee may elect to take accrued vacation or compensating time off during the period of child bonding leave except that in the case of an employee who is regularly scheduled to work less than the normal full-time workweek for the classification, paid leave shall be granted only for those days, or fractions thereof, on which such an employee would have worked but for child bonding leave. The use of sick leave during child bonding leave shall not be permitted to fathers, domestic partners or adoptive parents unless they are otherwise eligible to use it as provided in Administrative Code Chapter 3-20. Reinstatement subsequent to child bonding leave of absence shall be to the same classification from which leave was taken and the Department Head shall make his/her best effort to return such employee to the same geographical location, shift, and where there is specialization within a classification, to the same specialization. Questions as to whether or not the Department Head has made his/her best effort herein, shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.

  • Parenting Leave Parenting Leave consists of Maternity Leave and Parental Leave. Parental Leave includes Paternity and Adoption Leave. An employee who qualifies for Maternity Leave may apply for such leave in accordance with Maternity Leave “Plan A” or Maternity Leave “Plan B” but not both.

  • Child Rearing Leave 7.9.1 A permanent employee, who is the natural or adoptive parent of a child, shall be entitled to an unpaid leave of absence for the purpose of rearing his/her child for a specified period immediately after convalescence from maternity or immediately after completion of appropriate adoption papers. Such leave shall be for a maximum period of nine (9) months and shall be granted upon giving the District at least four (4) weeks notice prior to the anticipated date on which the leave is to commence.

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.

  • Retraining Leave a. The University President, at her/his discretion, may grant a retraining leave to an employee for the purpose of acquiring new skills or enhancing existing skills for the benefit of the University.

  • Childrearing Leave 1. Any teacher who has acquired tenure and is expecting a child, or whose spouse is expecting a child, or who has documented plans in the immediate future to adopt or xxxxxx a child of preschool age or a preteen child with special needs or who is non-English speaking, may be granted a long-term leave without pay for child-rearing purposes up to two (2) full semesters or a reasonably requested portion thereof within the same school year.

  • Sabbatical Leaves 49. Members taking their first Sabbatical Leave after a probationary period at The University of Western Ontario shall receive 90.0% of their Base Salary; Members taking their second or subsequent Sabbatical Leave from The University of Western Ontario shall receive 85.0% of their Base Salary.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.
