Associate Professor. Appointment or promotion to the rank of associate professor is based on evidence that the candidate is a fully competent teacher. In addition, the candidate shall demonstrate either: (a) significant scholarship or creative work in addition to his or her dissertation, although such scholarly work may be an extension or reworking of dissertation material, provided it demonstrates independent work; or (b) outstanding intellectual leadership beyond the University community; or (c) exceptional achievement as a teacher. Associate Professor. An Associate Professor is a member of a Faculty of the University who shall ordinarily have the following minimum qualifications: (a) A doctoral degree; (b) Successful experience in university teaching; (c) A significant record of scholarship as defined in Article 1.1(n). (d) A satisfactory record of service to the University, the profession, and the community, as defined in article 8.4.12 and 11.1.14.

Associate Professor. Promotion to the rank of Associate Professor shall be based upon a record of accomplishment: (a) evidence of a positive record of performance as a teacher; (b) evidence of accomplishment in the discipline to be demonstrated by scholarly activity that is supported by external recognition of the candidate’s work; (c) evidence of service to the University and academic community, the discipline and/or the community. The records of annual Career Development Meetings and other materials provided under Article 12.03 shall be a primary source of information in assessing (a) – (c) above.
Associate Professor. Consistent with the discipline, a BUFM with the rank of Associate Professor: 2.2.2.1. Shall hold the appropriate doctoral degree or its equivalent (see 2.2.1.1) from an accredited college or university; 2.2.2.2. Shall have demonstrated ability as an effective teacher/librarian; 2.2.2.3. Shall have demonstrated ability to do scholarly/creative activity as indicated by publications, significant research, or presentation of refereed papers at regional or national meetings, or their equivalent in the creative or performing arts; and 2.2.2.4. If currently employed at BGSU, shall give evidence of active involvement in service to the University, community, and/or profession. If initially hired at this rank, shall give evidence of potential contributions to the University, community, and/or profession.
