Assignment of Additional Work. Any Driver or Attendant that is not meeting the minimum FTE hours as required for the position will be assigned additional work that may include field trips, work experience, shuttles, community based trips, mid- days or other run assignments as needed to transport students. Should the additional work assignment not be able to be filled by a driver and attendant not meeting the minimum FTE, drivers within the geographical area will be assigned beginning with the senior available driver.

Assignment of Additional Work. Relief assignments and extra hours of work shall be offered to permanent part-time and laid off employees within an attendance area provided the hours do not conflict with an employee’s permanent schedule. The assignment shall be offered, by seniority, to employees who express interest in writing to the immediate supervisor in accepting additional hours and who possess the required qualifications and ability.

The BOCES shall canvass adult education employees to determine their interest in performing additional work at least two weeks prior to the development of an adult education division seniority list each July 1, October 1, January 1 and April 1. The additional work shall be assigned to the most senior adult education employee who notifies the BOCES of his/her interest in the assignment by or before the date specified by the BOCES provided the employee is certified and qualified to perform the work and the individual is at or below .70 FTE (i.e., 21 hours per week in adult education). Additional hours are contingent upon sufficient enrollment. The provisions of this section shall not be applicable when a funding source notifies the BOCES it is requesting that an instructor other than the most senior eligible Adult Ed employee, as defined above, be assigned. Such request shall be in writing and BOCES shall provide a copy to the Faculty Association. If the funding source is not willing to place its request in writing, BOCES shall meet and confer with the Faculty Association regarding the matter. Nothing herein shall preclude the BOCES from assigning another instructor in such instances.

Assignment of Additional Work. All extra work shall be offered based on job classification seniority with a cap of forty (40) hours per week. If the senior driver/aide has already taken extra work assignment(s) for that week and another one would extend him/her over forty (40) hours for that work then the next senior driver/aide will be given the next assignment. If all the bargaining unit volunteers are already scheduled for over forty (40) hours for that week it will be given to the most senior bidder. If there are insufficient bargaining unit volunteers the District will first offer the extra work to substitutes but then will have the right to mandate employees work additional hours beyond the regular schedule, if circumstances require. When the additional work needed does not require all of the Drivers, Mechanics, and/or Aides, the District will go by job classification seniority starting with the least senior who does not have forty (40) hours scheduled for that week in assigning the additional work.
