Asbestos Materials. Some areas of University Housing have asbestos containing materials present. A licensed asbestos abatement team manages these materials. Residents should use caution to not disturb any sprayed-on ceiling materials. Any questions concerning asbestos materials, locations and hazards should be referred to the Housing Facilities Office at (000) 000-0000 or the Asbestos Abatement Program liaison at (000) 000-0000 for further clarification.

Asbestos Materials. Employees required to wear protective equipment (i.e. combination overalls and breathing equipment or similar apparatus) as part of the necessary safeguards required by the appropriate occupational health authority for the use of materials containing asbestos or to work in close proximity to employees using such materials will be paid 63 cents per hour extra whilst wearing such equipment.
Asbestos Materials. The use and uncontrolled release of asbestos products, in particular amosite (brown) and crocidolite (blue), is not permitted at the venues. Dubai Municipality technical guidelines apply with regards to the use of this product. Asbestos products must not be brought into the venues without the prior permission of the Dubai World Trade Centre Health and Safety Team and any relevant government bodies. Contractors involved in the removal or treating of asbestos products must be suitably protected from harm and it shall be the responsibility of the employer to ensure that measures are in place to provide sufficient protection. Occupational exposure levels in the form of threshold limit values and biological exposure indices must not be exceeded. Work with asbestos must only be carried out by approved specialist contractors with a corresponding Risk Assessment and Method Statement.

Acid work An employee required to work on the construction or repairs to acid furnaces, acid stills, acid towers and all other acid resisting brick work will be paid $1.58 per hour. This additional rate will be regarded as part of the wage for all purposes. Bitumen work An employee handling hot bitumen or asphalt or dipping materials in creosote will be paid 62 cents per hour extra. Asbestos Materials. There is no asbestos or asbestos-containing material in or on any facility on which any Member operates, any Owned Real Property, or any real property that is currently leased to any Member that is friable. For purposes of this Section 3.14(j), "friable" shall be defined as capable of being crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure, when dry. No action to remove asbestos or asbestos-containing material is required at any facility at which any Member operates, any Owned Real Property, or any real property that is currently leased to any Member.
