ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. The Employer shall during the life of this Agreement deduct from each pay (including vacation pay) due to each bargaining unit employee who has signed a payroll deduction form, the prevailing regular weekly Union dues and remit the same to the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Local prior to the fifteenth day of the month following the month in which such deductions are made and shall at the same time submit a list of names of the employees from whose pay such deductions have been made. The Union shall advise the Employer in writing of the amount of the regular Union dues authorized in accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Union. The Union shall indemnify and save the Employer harmless with respect to all dues and initiation fees so deducted and remitted under this Article. The Employer agrees that upon receipt of written authorization in the form of a signed membership card it will deduct from the wages of seniority employees joining the Union after ratification of this Agreement the initiation fee due from him to the local Union on the first pay day of the following calendar month, and shall remit the same to the Financial Secretary of the Local Union on or before the day of the calendar month. The Employer agrees that it shall be a condition of employment that any employee who at the date of signing of this Agreement was a member in good standing shall maintain such membership. Employees hired on or subsequent to the date of the signing of this Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, become members of the Union within sixty-five (65) worked days following the date of their employment, and shall thereafter maintain membership in the Union in good standing. The Employer shall procure from such new employees the necessary membership application, and membership in the Union shall be granted within the above mentioned sixty-five
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. It is agreed that all employees covered by this Agree- ment shall become and remain members of the Union in good standing as a condition of employment. New employees shall make application for membership in the Union at the time of their hiring and shall become and remain members of the Union in good standing, as a condition of employment. The Employer agrees that it will inform all new employees prior to or at the time of hiring of the Union security provisions of the Agree- ment. The Employer or designate will during the first three (3) weeks of each individual’s employment make known to the new employee the names and work locations of union stewards in the store. The Employer shall, during the term of this Agreement, as a condition of employment, deduct from members of the bargaining unit the regular weekly Union Dues and such Dues shall be remitted to the Union prior to the 15th day of the month following the month in which such deduction is made. The Employer shall notify the Union of new full-time employeesclassifications and rates of pay in addition to ter- minations, on a monthly basis. Deduction statements shall be documented by location, containing the full name of the employee and his starting date and social insurance number subject to the employee consenting to the use of his or her social insurance number. The Employer agrees to record the annual Union Dues deductions for each employee on his Form. Employers shall provide dues information to the Union in an electronic format acceptable to both parties. In the event that such weekly Dues are changed during the term of the Agreement, such change must be given to the Employer by notice properly authorized by Union Officials and shall become effective within one month following the date the notice is received. New employees shall be documented and documents for- warded to the Union Office within two (2) weeks of hiring. The first sixty (60) days worked at each store shall be con- sidered a probationary period. It is understood between the Employer and the Union that a probationary employee shall be considered an employee for all purposes of the Agree- ment save that a probationary employee may be dismissed at any time during the probationary period.
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. The Union will identify as union dues a sum equal to the regular monthly amount which will be deducted by the Employer from each employee covered by this Agreement, save and except persons employed under a special government program. It is understood that any wages paid directly by the Villa to persons employed under government programs will be subject to union dues deductions. It is further understood that there will be no loss of hours for regular staff as a result of persons being employed under such programs. Such dues shall be deducted and remitted to the secretary of the Local Union not later that the fifteenth (15th) day of the month following. Such deductions so remitted shall be accompanied by a list of those employees from whom such deductions have been made. In the case of new employees hired after the effective date of this Agreement, check off of dues shall commence in the employee's first pay period following the date of employment. The Union shall notify the Employer of any changes in the amount of the monthly union dues and such notification shall be the Employer's conclusive authority to make the deduction specified. In consideration of the deduction of Union dues by the Employer, the Union agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Employer against any claims or liabilities arising or resulting from the operation of this Article. At the same time that Income Tax slips are made available, the Employer shall type on the amount of Union Dues paid by each Union member in the previous year. In order to providejob security for the members of the bargaining unit, the Employer agrees that no employee will be laid off or have employment terminated by the result of contracting out work or services of the kind performed by its employees. Contracting out to an employer who is organized and who will employ the employees of the bargaining unit who would otherwise be laid off or terminated, with similar terms and conditions of employment, is not a breach of this agreement. It is agreed that the above provision shall not apply to work contracted out as a result of an emergency or mechanical breakdown.
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. The Company agrees to deduct every fourth (4th) week in a month from the earnings of each employee regular Union dues and to remit the total so deducted monthly to the designated officer of the Union,together with the list of employees from whom such deductions have been made. The Company agrees to co-operate in providing tape-to-tape format for remittance of Union dues. In order that the Company may have definite instructions as to what amount is to be deducted for Union dues, it is agreed that the Union will promptly notify the Company, in writing, over the signature of its designated officer, the amount of the deduction to be by the Company for regular Union dues, and the Company shall have the right to continue to rely on such written notification until it receives other written notification from the Union signed with the same formality. The Union agrees to hold the Company against all claims, demands, and expenses should any person, at any time contend or claim that the Company has acted wrongfully or illegally in such dues deduction. Twice the regular monthly Union dues shall be deducted in any one check-off where the employee was absent or had insufficient pay in the check-off immediately preceding. The Company agrees to list the amount of Union dues paid on employees' forms for income tax purposes. The Company will advise the Union once a month of the name, address and Social Insurance Number of each new employee, also the names of employees being separated. The Company agrees to deduct after completion of the probationary period the Union initiation fee when presented with a signed application for membership card that such deduction. The Union will advise the Company in writing of the amount of the initiation fee. As a condition of employment each employee covered by this Agreement must become and remain a member of the Union in good standing. The Company agrees to have the employee fill out Union application cards as part of the hiring process. Except as, and to the extent specifically modified by this Agreement, all rights and prerogatives of Management are retained by the Company remain exclusively the rights of the Company and its Management. Without limiting the of the foregoing, the Company's rights include:

A remittance statement containing the name, job classification, wage rate and social insurance number of each employee, as provided by the employee to the Employer, and the amount deducted (or the reason a deduction was not made) shall be forwarded by to the Union The Union shall provide the Employer with ninety (90) days written notice of any increase or decrease in the amount of Dues and/or initiation fees to be deducted from the bargaining unit employees. The Union shall indemnify and save harmless the Employer, its agents and/or employees acting on behalf of the Employer, from any and all claims, demands, actions or causes of action arising out of, or in any way connection and remittance of such Dues. The parties agree that arrangements will be made for a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to interview each new employee once during the first fifteen (15) days of employment for the purpose of informing such employee of the existence of the Union in the Centre. The Employer shall advise the Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ monthly as to the names of the employees listed for interview and the time and place on the premises of the Employer designated for each such interview, the duration of which shall not exceed ten minutes per new employee. The parties agree that there will be no intimidation, discrimination or coercion exercised or practiced by either of them or their representatives or members because of the employee’s membership or non-membership in the Union. The terms and obligations contained in this Article shall be interpreted in accordance with the Ontario Labour Relations Act, as amended.
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. Every employee who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union, and maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, provided that any employee in the appropriate bargaining unit who is not required to maintain membership or apply for and maintain membership in the Union, shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by the members of the Union.
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. It is agreed that an employee may exercise or refrain from exercising his right to become a member of the Union or may cease to be a member of the Union. The Employer agrees to deduct from the wages due to each employee covered by this Agreement a sum equal to the regular Union dues payable by the members of the Union. The Employer shall remit the amount so deducted to the Road, North York, Ontario to the attention of the Director of Financial Administration by the twentieth (20th) day of the month next following deduction along with a list of the names of the employees from whose pay the deductions have been made. The amount of the Union dues deducted from each employee pursuant to this Article shall be included on the slip. The Union shall indemnify and save the Employer harmless against any and all claims, demands, suits and other forms of liability that may arise out of any action taken or not taken by the Employer for the purposes of complying with any of the provisions of this Article. The Union shall advise the Employer in writing of the amount of its regular dues. The amount so advised shall continue to be deducted until changed by a further written notice to the Employer signed by authorized officials of the Union.
ARTICLE UNION SECURITY. The parties hereto agree that no employee will in any manner be discriminated against or coerced, restrained or influenced on account of membership or non-membership in any labour organization or by reason of any activity or lack of activity in any labour organization. The Union will not nor will any employee engage in Union activities during working hours or hold meetings at any time on the premises of the Employer without the permission of the Employer. During the term of this Agreement, the Employer agrees to deduct from each employee covered by this Agreement the dues and/or assessments as designated by the Union. Such deductions will commence immediately upon employment The Union agrees to give the Employer thirty (30) days notice in writing of the amount of such dues and/or assessments as designated, or of any changes in the amount of such dues and/or assessments. The dues so deducted will be remitted to the Local Union Treasurer by the day of the month following the month of deduction, accompanied by a list of names and classifications of the employees from whose wages the deductions were made, the addresses of all new employees from whom a first deduction was taken, and any deletions. If applicable, where a part-time employee receives no wages in a pay period, but received wages during the Calendar month, the appropriate dues will be deducted from the next pay period in which the part-time employee receives wages. The Union will indemnify and save the Employer harmless with respect to all claims and demands made against the Employer by an employee as a result of the deductions and remittance of dues by the Employer pursuant to this Article. The Employer will advise new employees that a collective agreement is in effect, and will provide each new employee with a copy of the current Collective Agreement At the Board's scheduled new employee orientation the President or designate, when the President is not available, will be afforded a maximum of thirty (30) minutes for the purpose of discussing benefits and duties of union membership.
